Brakes Pads

Guys,

I want to change my brake pads, I'm starting to hear a squeeking nose when I hit my breaks. Where can I buy brakes pads at a reasonable price for my S500 also what types are considered best oem?

Thanks

How much did you pay and where did you buy them?

I have been running AKEBONO ceramics for over 20,000 miles on my car and am very happy with them. No dust, great bite, no noise. Tire Rack is my supplier for tires and these pads.

Try R1concepts (website w/ same name). $120 for both front and rear. Asked for Axxis Deluxe. Find a brake shop that will charge you $80-100 to install them.

Best part of all: no brake dust at all !!!. And brake chew like dog.

You should do a brake job if your pads are worn, but squeaking isn't normally a sign of worn pads. Thinness is. High-performance pads tend to squeak more, not less. There's an anti-squeak goo you put on the back of pads. That and cleaning the brakes will usually do the trick.

If your pads are worn, you must make sure the rotors aren't worn as well. MB rotors often need replacing by 30,000 miles at the front. They should not be machined, but must be replaced if they're thinner than spec. And they usually will be. Just replacing your pads will probably not fix the squeak for long and not doing a proper brake job (checking the rotor for thickness and runout, making sure the wear sensors are good, cleaning everything, making sure the anti-squeak is applied, etc.) will cause major problems down the road.
