SO I assume everyone treats their baby with 93 octane.

How much does a full tank of gas cost in your state

Iv seen differences of up to 1$ in diff states.

I just filled up an hour ago and paid 2.91 for 22 gallons of premium octane gasoline for a total of 64.02. I know this is cheap to some of my Western owners but it still stings out here!

I guess that is what Hugo Chávez is doing with the 'state run' petro company in Venezuela. I think I will have to take notice of this in the future. Thanks and Cheers.

Cool

The winner is..............Germany

23 gallons, $ 7.36/gal = $ 169 per fill up

and it still feels great to drive the W220-machine!

97/98 Octane

Hi all

Here in the UK I have always used Super Unleaded or as Shell like to call it, V-Power 97/98 Octane. I have had my car for over 3 years and it seems to run lovely with this. If I use our standard 93/94 octane, I notice a slight loss in power.

Now you have got me thinking, am I wrong to use this type of petrol/gas, bearing it mind the car has been sweet for over 3 years.

I think I use the 97/98 octane because I read the manual and it says to use premium unleaded petrol only and I must have read this as the special super 97/98 stuff and have used this ever since.

Any info/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I would use it if I could get it. I can only get BP 92 Ultra Clean where I live. Many midwest BP's only carry 91 Ultra Clean. Bummer

Using a higher rated gas is just a waste of money.

The ECU and knock detectors will prevent low octane from hurting anything, but the map will absolutely take advantage of higher octane than the specified 91.

Question

I agree with Whoever, I do notice a difference when using our UK 93/94 octane compared to 97/98 octane petrol, most certainly. The 93/94 does not seem to have the kick of the 97/98.

Placebo?

Think the engine as a human being.

Will you perfrom better drinking sand or water.

Imagine yourself choking on the sand, that what low octane is for the engine.

Due to differences in the calculation method, octane sold in the US is represented with numbers that are 4-5 points lower. 87 octane fuel, the "regular" gasoline in the US and Canada, would be 91-92 in Europe. However in the EU 95 (RON) is generally labeled "regular", which is the equivalent to 90-91 US (R+M)/2. US 93 is generally equivalent to 98 EU (RON) octanes.

According to a Lexus manual:
Regular = 87 US / 91 EU
Premium unleaded = 91 US / 96 EU

2000 S430, 1999 E 320, 2 K5 blazers,
I use to use 92 that is super unleaded here in california, until one day i started to use 89 that is the midgrade, and it runs the same no difference at all. so for the past few years that is all i have used and no problems knock on wood

sand haha that made me laugh, but that really isn't a valid analogy since sand and water are completely different in almost all aspects. gas is gas, just some have different chemicals in it, are purer, higher/lower octane, etc etc.

this is more like what will make you preform better, water or mineral water?
im sure both will get the job done with little to no significant difference in performance. just some might prefer one over the other. just as a benz engine would probably prefer the best gas available at your local gas station.... anyways, i fill up with 91

93 Octane from Exxon only! I make it a point to fill up on either Tuesdays/Thursdays as my local Exxon offers 6 cents off on 93 Octane fuel.

Last night I paid $3.19/gallon.

I use 91 Octane for my 03 S430 and 00 CLK430. We don't have anything higher than 91 here.

$3.76/gal, 22-23 gallons to fill up the tank= $83+

Some gas stations are $3.85+/gal now .

Gas prices are insane now. The Chevron gas station that's a few min from my house is $3.95/gal for 91.
