Thumbs up 2003 S-class Sport is *HOT*!

just saw s430 Sport silver/char delivered to client at local dlr as i was in today. this car is definitely a step up from '02 in styling and interior.
i am actually tempted to swap out of my recently purchased car for a sport-fitted 4matic, which is available combo , btw.

this car absolutely looks better in person than pics or brochures.

the aggressive front spoiler treatment is great , so is new sport wheel package
i was so-so on the w220 for some time, but not anymore!
i would advise anyone about to pull the trigger on '02 leftovers to wait it out until they see and feel this car.

although i would like to see how a 4matic stacks up against new Audi A8 , which looks nice in pics imo.

thanks , j.

I agree totally, the 2003 is a completely different car once you see it.....but until you see it, you think its the same as an 02.

do tell, the wheels, are they the same wheels that MBUSA shows in the pic of their S Class Sport or are they the same wheels the pics of the S55 show?

They are 5 twin spoke wheels - very sporty and easy to keep clean, but they also make the car look high tech. They are different than the S55 but they are really nice.

Hrmm, true. I take a look @ the photos of the 2003 S Class and I have a hard time telling the difference from it's predecessor, being the clear front headlights and the new rear headlights.

I got to see the 2003 S500 sport that my friend just took over. First the wheels are narrower than the previous model. Second, whats up with them front hideous cuopholders. I have a 2000 model sport and I think my car looks lower and more sporty. In terms of the car being a totally different car I must disagree too. Even putting them side by side I can't tell much. And I am an MB buff. Just imagine what the rest of the population would think. BTW the ////AMG wheels he got on his don't have the nice lip I got on mine! The spokes are flush.

the wheels i saw are the same , i believe, as mbusa website for s500 sport, NOT s55 'twin' spoke , and you can see bigger pic of same on brochure.

ucimbz,
we're all entitled to an opinion, and i'm a neutral observer in all this , but all i know is i never really had a woody for the w220 s-class in any look until i saw this '03 sport.
maybe you were fixated on the cupholders, which i didnt see, but the rest of the interior is certainly upgraded, and mb has even admitted to concentrating on improving it.
and i wouldnt say its 'totally different' either, its just tweaked , i guess.

I saw an 03 S430 today at the dealer. The cupholders are a tad bit better than the previous versions, I guess... lol... Noticed the phone cradle is now where the old cup holders used to be and flips open, exposing the phone at a left angle toward the driver. I guess this is okay.

The door sills (sp) are sharp & solid, very nice job. Buttons on the door are sharp as well along with the improved command system. Notice the trunk release on the outside of the trunk has two buttons now. Though with auto trunk open/close, won't use them much. The exterior lights do improve the look.

I did get a brochure and still not sold on the wheels which come with the sport package. Too similar to the existing set up when the S55 has new polished rims. Asked the dealer to put those wheels on the car when it arrives. They said no problem, we will see though.

Just my thoughts....

The one you saw was for the driver. Look on the left side of the base of the front passenger sit. There is a hole that a removable coupholder will fit into (ala SL).
