Thumbs down Farewell

I have been a member of this forum for a while now - usually participating here and in the Audio and Electronics forum.

Several weeks ago, someone decided to delete a sticky I had done, the "How-to Guide For Cell Phone Upgrades, Plug-in And Bluetooth" that was once posted in the Audio and Electronics forum. No reason was given.

The string had been up for about a year. It had been viewed over 15,000 times, and was still active.

It took months of work over a period of about 3 years to gain the knowledge to write it. The string itself took two days just to write and to error check. The followup answers to questions have (all together) taken weeks of research and analysis. Other forum members had made superb contributions. The number of people contacting me for follow questions on equipment and installation indicated continuing use and value.

But it is gone, and apparently there is no interest on the part of people who run this forum to respond as to why, or to make efforts to restore it.

I have twice tried to contact forum administrators - one, about 10 days ago, another about a week ago. No reply.

Therefore, I have decided to waste no more time or effort on this forum; obviously, the effort is not appreciated by the folks who run it. I will not return to the forum after today.

However, I do not blame the members of the forum for the attitudes of the administrators - so I will continue to do what I can regarding audio and telematics issues, and the W220, on BenzWorld. If you have specific questions I can help with, I will still accept e-mail and PM through that forum

Skylaw,

If I was you - I'd be upset too. It's disappointing when people don't appreciate your efforts. Though, I'm asking you to rethink your position after a cool off period. As you said, it's not the members who you fault...... Yet it's the members that will lose. Why don't you just respond and contribute at a level you are comfortable with? There is no dishonor in rethinking your position.

Further, I too have had difficulty contacting any management on this board. I find it odd as they purchased it and want to keep the "mbworld" brand strong. Have you tried to contact VRAA? He is a mod. here I know from another board and should at least respond with an explanation if he can't change it.

You seem level headed..... don't let the actions of one ruin it for you and the rest of the community.

Good luck

LetsJet

This is sad...

Skylaw got heated on this with good reason. I asked questions regarding Bluetooth in my car, which prompted him to ask this question again. I thought it was rather strange that someone would delete such a helpful post. Hate to see him go.

On another note, some people on both boards have been jerks at several points. Witnessed it many times, one of my friends here in Atlanta has asked about a Kleeman Kit for his CLS55 and got a lot of flack and decided not to come back as well. I guess some members here thought he was posing, but he was not.

This is a rather disturbing attitude like that on a forum where people just want help, advice, and an opinion. Just an observation.

It is unfortunate for MBWorld to lose such a great thread and a great member. However we are still very fortunate to be able to be in contact with you and that you're able to spread your knowledge on the other forum.

Well, this is upsetting for me to read. Skylaw, you are an absolute asset to this board and I thank for your contributions here. I hope the principles here re-evaluate this situation and make it right.

OP,I must admit I've never seen the thread in question, but I can appreicate the work that you and others must have done to provide such a tread.I mainly visit this forum to educate myself on my own car,so I'm sure the thread you had posted will be missed.

Sky,
Thanks for your contributions to the forums. It was several of your posts that drew me to be a member here and on the other forums.

It's unfortunate that many forums such as this censor there members posts...

It won't surprise me if this thread disappears as well......

Were it not for the fine efforts of the members, there would be nothing left of MBWorld....

Indeed a sad day. They can expect to see thread counts decline - along with banner revenue.

I guess some sponsor of the site want to do phone kit for Mercedes, and think that your sticky post threaten their business.

As often, money first, so you lose out . This is as pathetic as it gets.

It's sad to see you go, your posts have always been very helpful ...

I just verified that the thread was accidentally deleted. It was NOT intentional and there is no reason a thread like this would have been removed deliberately. We are working to restore it asap. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I will contact Skylaw to make him aware of the error. This forum is about the sharing of information, and this thread was great information. It upsets me greatly that this mistake was made on a thread like this.
