Is it even possible with intrument cluster?
bones
Was looking for an exhaust and saw this.
Anyway I think your local dealer is full of S&*T with that Canadian MFD statement...
YOu should go to a different dealer OR another inspection station. OR both.
when you start the car all the warning lights suppost to illuminate for few seconds and they go away, all my lights do that except CEL, and thats a must in WA.
I need to prove it to the dealer that they full of BS, ppl on other forums say that its a nationwide recall, and they suppost to replace it under the warranty. does anybody has a copy of a letter that says its a nationwide recall?

See posts 58 and 73 at https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...=82722&page=2; - the string gives the whole history of the recall beginning, then MB extending the warranty because far more cars were affected that contemplated in the recall. The two posts cited provide copies sent to owners (on record with MB) and also the insert for the warranty booklet provided with the letter.
A copy of the recall campaign bulletin is at http://www.theworkshopmb.com/TheWork...ter_Recall.pdf - but remember, the recall was by VIN. The extended warranty was not limited by VIN. It applies to all U.S. 2000-2006 S and CL classes. The only reason the recall "expired" (it didn't; owners with recall letters can still get their clusters replaced, and MB has been notifying some who didn't to come in for repair) is because it was succeeded by the extended warranty.
I do not know what the result would be if your car was originally exported to Canada, then sold to you in the U.S.; or if it were exported to the U.S. and a Canadian purchaser substituted a Canadian cluster (one whose dial primarily shows kmph vice mph) - however, if its original destination was the U.S., and the cluster reads out in primarily in mph, then the information about a "Canadian" cluster is garbage.
However, I would press it higher if the dealer doesn't cooperate. Refer the question to the regional rep if you can't resolve it with the dealer.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
on your second link that you posted, shows part numbers of intrument clusters that can be replaced, and Im pretty sure my is one of those, so I think it doesnt matter if its canadian or american they still have to replace it.

The extended warranty, by contrast, comes into play only for a malfunctioning cluster. However, the warranty did not place any limitations on the types of malfunctions covered. Any cluster malfunction (not caused by owner abuse, etc.) would be covered, not just lighting failure.

"Although if ur cluster falls under the recall by part number, you lucked out and you can get it replaced anyway."
But I also wanted folks to know that the replacement under warranty covers more than backlighting failure. The phrase "Unfortunately the recall is for the back lighting not working" introduces an ambiguity in that regard. Neither the recall nor the extended warranty limits replacement only to that failure.

If your Mercedes has or had a defective cluster and is not covered under this recall PLEASE file a complaint at www.NHTSA.gov.
PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT - You can also contact Ali at the NHTSA 202.366.7021 and speak directly to him. Ali performed the investigation and is aware of the details.

If you are in Seattle, and must go to the dealer, go to Phil Smart. MB Lynnwood and Barrier in Bellevue are not so helpful. I have only been happy with Phil. Although MB Lynnwood is slowly working its way back into my good graces.
