oil change question!

Hey just wondering how often you guys get your oil changes done?

I have an 05 S430 n have had it for almost two years but only put about 6k miles on it. I take it to the dealership and ask for a oil change(thinking u know 2 yrs is a long time not to have a oil change even though I only got 6k miles on it), anyways, the dealership tells me I dont need it unless the service reminder comes up on my dash.

Is this true, what are your experiences?

Does your FSS count by mileage or days at this point?

I put only 4k miles a year. However, I change oil every year. There will be different reaction in your oil if you keep it for too long and little use (and it is not healthy to your engine). Based on your usage, you will have to wait almost four years to get the service reminder shows up.

at the rate you are changing oil, dont even ask.just take it in and let them do the task and pay the bill.im not being negative, you are holding a jewell that will somday be a fantastic car for the next owner.make sure every maintanance task is documented with a dealer stamp in the factory service record book that stays with the car.

The Assyst counts by miles, load of the engine, degrading of the oil, and time. Some miraculous algorithm tells you then when to get which service.

U.S. systems count by either miles or by date.

I created a page with basic info about changing oil on the mercedes with a video showing how easy it is to do yourself using a fluid evacuator. Fantastic device, and smart design by mercedes allowing you to do it from the top!
