01 CL55k Kleemann or 0 CL55 amg?

i just got a sick deal on a 01 CL55 amg with 29k miles and a 5 year 100k mile mb approved warranty and its certified mint car for $31k

i also saw a 2004 CL55 which has the kompressor engine mint not certified and remaining warranty for $48k

i know that the kompressor engines have bunch of problems.

i was heard that prior to 3 the CL55amg and other amgs were practically bulletproof cars.

i could swap on a kleemann supercharger, do a intercooler upgrade and brake upgrade and still be cheaper then the 04 cl55 and also be faster.

what do you guys think??

im still getting the z06 the cl55 is just a replacement to my s500.

yea but the kleemann kompressor is 10 times better the the amg kompressor.

plus i can get a real AMG...thats handbuilt... the newer ones are bogus no offense to anyone out there but making 20,000 amg's a year all handmade is huge BS.

id rather go with a 01 or 02 N/A 55 and do work to it. Even just doing headers downpipes, intake, exhaust and pulleys will bring me to more then 400hp and thats more then enough for NYC.

and the 5 year warranty and 100k warranty would start from this year. so i think for 31k thats an unbeatable deal. plus the car only has 29k mile for close to 7 years. and in immaculate condidtion.. i had a friend of mine whos a tech look it over today. i think im going to pull the trigger this week.

will kept you guys informed.

and on top of that the w215 chasis is sexy as hell....biaches are just drawn to it.

i have 02 S55 and pretty content w/ 349hp. how much for what you're talking about for 400hp?
p.s. from what i've read, kleeman is NOT 10x more reliable than AMG kompressor - could be better, but not sure 10x?

yea the kleemann is not 10 times more reliable but its def alot better.

plus you s55 is 355 horsepower and 391 tq not 342hp.

now to get 400 horses and around 450 torquw on your car.

VRP headers $1495----15-20hp

Primary Cat delete when you get headers and switch 02 sensors behind secondary cats----- $100-----7-10hp

Evosport Underdrive Pulleys---- $349-------- 3-5hp

AMS performance crankshaft pulley---$549---10-15hp

S55kompressor/s63 Airbox with K/n filters---$700---3-5hp

Magnaflow Exhaust system---$600-----------------3-5hp

Veloce Custom ECU tune to maxmize all of those performance products $1500------25-30hp.

Just from those number which are very accuracte your looking at close to 80hp or more gain. which will put you well over 400hp.

id say youd be at about 420hp and 450tq

Looks like you pretty much made up your mind before posting, but since you are asking opinions .. here's mine (I know they're like *******s, we all have one!):

The AMG comes with bigger breaks, diff. seats, lots of AMG accents plus the power. Not that I have one but I'd go for the AMG every time .. plus it's a lot newer.

I have an 01 S500 and ipod integration sucks (most based system, newer one's are much better), the screen is small and just in general I prefer the 04's up for look and usability/integration.

Whatever you get, only you are going to drive it so best of luck in getting what you want!!!

How is it abused?

If you got a mechanic friend to look at it, he can see right away like 2 yrs into the future history of the car , you feel me ?

exactly..... stop and go traffic and especailly flooring it constanly from light to light on the ocean parkway lol.

i mean you got a 500horsepower car and 600torque. and your not gonna drive it somewhat reckeless? lol..yea right

Any AMG car or 600 are garbage no offense to anyone out there that doesnt have an extended warranty past the 60k miles. They are just bound to cause you problems and its inevitable. Plus repairs on a non warranty biturbo 600 would be crazy. Would prob cost you almost as much as the car itself in 4-5 years.

01 will definitely have more problems than 03 since that was the first year CL was sold. Kleemann supercharger with headers will cost you over $20,000 to install, which is close to the value of the car that you will never get back. Doesn't make sense to me. I would get the 03/04 CL55 AMG without even thinking about it twice (and I am a SLK55 Kleemann owner).

thanks for the head ups.

Dmitriy would you have 20-30k to throw away on a stupid car for repairs lol.

Id rather take that dump an extra 3-4k on a extended warranty and drop that left over 15k into a mutual fund making 10-12% a year and leave it for 30years and leave myself a couple million.

thats whats separates us....gotta have doe for the short term and in the long haul.

I dont know how it is on Planet Lorinser but here on Planet Earth my 600hp Mercedes is nowhere NEAR enough for NYC

Get the N/A 55 and keep it the way it is for reliability and warranty.. No blower, no turbo.. None of that.. Save that for the Z06.. You gonna need all you can get to run my 600 anyways LoL Good luck with it..

PS - If anyone needs a Mercedes tech in Long Island I found someone today in Hicksville who is real good and your *** wont feel like it was pounded without Vaseline when the bill comes..

hahaha lol.. i cant wait dennis.

yea i your def right going with the N/A 55. i think im gonna go with it and just do headers, intake, ecu tune, and exhaust for under 5grand which should be sufficient enough.

this is for you dennis and the z06 is stock against a SL65

http://youtube.com/watch?v=eWJwoUdHM6U

one more against a Ford GT which will rape a 600 or 65 enjoy from 2:10 sec into the vid which will be what will be happening to you on the belt lol
