This may sound wierd/ugly, anyone ever tinted the headlights?
I'm trying to figure out any options to get the only "weak spot" of my car taken care of, i.e the headlights. I'd like the clear ones from the later models, but they cost a bit much, and even though the Depot brand is affordable, I'm afraid of all the re-wiring that has to be done considering I have Xenon's.
So besides polishing up and trying to revivie a "like new" look from the Opaque's, I was thinking of how it would look with a LIGHT tint, something to just shadow over it, basically to replace a more yellow-y fog with a black-ish fog.
Would this just look like *** or could it work? Also would it block too much of my headlights power or is there a special Tint to use for these that wouldn't hamper it much. Also, any Pics?
Thanks.

I think weird/ugly about sums it up.
I'm sure there is an issue with making the headlights less efficient that would make the law interested in your vehicle. Never heard of tinting headlights, but I don't get out a lot.

i understand your situation since you have oem xenon. express body parts sell the upgraded clear lens for oem equipped halogen and xenon. here is the link to the xenon set, $1550 is better than the oem $2400

Yeah, I can't help but think it'll be really ugly too. I was just thinking perhaps there's a special Tint designed for lights that might hue it a tad, not affect light output much at all, and hide the haze....$1,550 is a definitely a bit more than I wanna spend on lights....Looking for a cheap fix essentially. The Depo's would be great, but it seems like alot of work to fit it to my assembly and I am NOT mechanically inclined at all....
I dunno, I assume it would be cheap as hell to Tint 'em, if so, maybe I'll give it a try for the hell of it and then when I possibly puke at the result I could just have them taken right off.
Oh, does anyone know where I could find a set of brand new Opaque's for sale?? I figure people would be practically giving those away, and with the simple plug and play I figure if I could get a set for cheap enough I could just swap them with my slightly more hazed ones.
Thanks again.

you can try carefully removing the lens from the headlight and then painting the non-reflective bits of the inside of the headlight. the draw back to this is improper sealing when putting the lights back together thus causing condensation to occur.

Well I got it done, paid about $150 for the whole bit with the Mirror lights included. These were *supposed* to be the lightest they had, but I think it's a shade darker then that. On one hand I like it, on another I'm not sure if I like it. I think if I Tint the red parts of my taillights it'll flow better. It does look alot meaner though.

I may actually like that look after seeing yours done. I also have considered the updating of the lights and stopped when I found out the cost to replace my Xenons and update the side markers. A little pricey for me.
Did you do anything to the tail lights?
And can you still tell that the headlights were yellowed prior to the tinting?

I also painted the spokes of my hood star black
Aaannnnd as you can see here, the light shines through just fine. The headlights are a smidgent darker, but since I added Xenon, it's not that noticiable.

But anyway, yea, I think it looks good, and yea, it gives it a way more aggressive look.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Now that I'm not so confused by the look (since it was so different/odd when I did it) I really really love it, you can't see any of the yellow at all under it, and it actually gives an awesome, extra diamond-y blue clean look when the lights are on with the Xenons going through them. Also really sets the car apart. Not sure if I would choose them over a new Set of 03+ clear lights, but they cost alot less and at the moment I'm enjoying them more-so since the look is more unique. We'll see how it stands the test of time though once I get more used to them.
I'm *trying* to keep the tail lights red, and trying to convince myself that it "works" with them red, I don't necessarily want my whole car to have the "blacked out" vibe, not that there's a problem with that, but I think at this point I miight have to do it....Let me know your thoughts?

If I choose to do this to my car (same color as yours), I was also going to do the white parts only of the taillights. Not the red.
I still have mixed thoughts because my headlights have not yellowed as of yet.
I am also interested to see how the tint on your headlights stands up to the heat they put out.
