Service intervals - how strict?

I dont know why you guys seem to have that culture over there, over here it is normal for petrol engines to be serviced at between 15-20k miles. Everything from Vauxhall (GM), BMW, Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot/Citroen etc etc has those kind of intervals.

engine, trans, power steering' brake fluid
engine oil every six months mobil one 0/40 whether it needs it or not. i allow the fss counter to continue to the prescribed interval to dictate B intervals. trans "flush" every 50k miles with MB OE synthetic fluid and filter. power steering fluid "flush" every 50k. brake fluid "flush" every 24 months. just my method, i do all my own "service" maintanance.
