Dual Air Intake for S Class?

Hey guys. This is my first Benz and I love it. I used to have Accords and an Audit A4. I always swapped the stock air box for a short ram or cold air intake in the the previous cars. Not necessarily for the power gains, but because of the agressive sound. I found a website that sells dual air short ram intake for the S430. Here is the link : http://www.myhotmercedes.com/mercede...Intake/549408#

What do you guys think about this upgrade? Is it safe and worth it?

hmmm judging by that pic it looks like your gonna pull hotter engine air and its gonna be double filteredunless you still remove the stock ones inside but then that leaves a huge empty box of air, I would think might be turbulent due to the removal of the stock filters?

reading some of the other sub forums. Seems like the only thing that may get some gains is to get a AMG CLK 55 airbox for the W208 with green filter.

I think its a waste of money unless you are strictly going for the look. You're getting absolutely nothing else. The factory pieces like that are completely free for airflow. Its not that piece where you get the gains, its the filters and the box that they connect to. Change that, and you're doing something worthwhile.

To be honest... I dont mind not gaining any power, but I would like to change the way the engine sounds when you open throttle. Do you think it would create a deeper, more distinctive sound?

I think it's garabge.. if you want to mess around with your intakes go with the 55K AMG airbox. That's what I'm doing.

NO.. You'll get nothing unless you get past those filter housings... To be honest you are on the wrong end of the car if you want a deeper more distinctive sound. These engines are quiet for a reason... IF you want to hear noise, growl, or whatever, change the exhaust. or get a sportier car.

What a deal! $300 for $30 worth of parts... if not less.
