I don't know what the chasis number of these are, and I can't even find a forum section for them under sedans. What's your opinions on these. I didn't like the body style at first, but it has grown on me, and I just LOVE the rear wheel offset and how deep some of the after martket wheels are.
What engine came in them, what was the first production year, and how long do you see that body style lasting? How much are they going for used now-a-days?
220 owner opinion's matter the most to me, since we share alot of the same likes and dislikes

first off, its not considered a SEDAN its a COUPE....second it is a hott body style....third its small as hell in the inside because it is based on an E class chassis.not as comfortable as an S class.

Mercedes Benz classifies it as a coupe. My friend has one and if you are 6'5" tall like I am there is no way I could sit in the backseat. On the other hand, I can sit in the back of my S-500 with the front seat in a position where I would be driving and my knees don't touch. I do have to admit that the body style is very nice.

Beautiful cars...
It's called a coupe because it only sits 4 people, the rear seat is for 2 people only...

In regards to the engine, if it's the CLS500 obviously it will have the same M113 5.0L V8 as your S500 does...

I was looking one before buying my W220. A nice second hand CLS 350. Very nice looking car but was too expensive at the time (they have a good resale value in my country). As everyone said, not really much space in the back seat but the front are as on the E class. The dashboard is gorgeous and I also like the frameless doors (frame around the windows, don't know the english term - I apologize for that
) ...

Didn't know that. Too bad, that's a nice engine (272ks) and doesn't ask for much fuel
...
But, I dont' understand why MBUSA or who is to blame has this type of policy with so much difference in engines and optional equipment availability for the EU and USA markets? ... a little offtopic though ....

Now the US models are different in one way or another, so for them to make all those cars US-Spec, ship them here and what not is way too much of a hassle. Plus the people in this country are pretty dumb and they don't need that many choices.
Just like the S550... why is it the S500 everywhere else in the world?

No comparison to the W220 a salesman tried to convince me its bigger inside than my S. I was cramped big time and I'm only 6'. I'd rather the CL as it is truly just a @-Door S Class.

that should answer all your questions on the cls
and for the record, it is a coupe, and most people get the impression that a coupe means 2 door, but a coupe is just a type body style or chassis and can have 2-4 doors (although typically manufactured as 2 door) without any questions.

you should ask the CLS section for more expert and advise from actual owners. The car is beautiful be sure to get the AMG kit
Here's my W220 and a C219 side by side you can compare them

really? Build quality for mine is amazing I guess things changed after 2003. I would have to think about getting another car I'm too used to my soft close doors and what not
