It's very possible, almost anything is nowdays. There are some very sophisticated ways to literally "hack" into a car nowdays.

I had a 215 body CL in the shop some time ago and the car stopped running/wouldn't start all of a sudden. I came to find out the owner hadn't made is car payments for several months and M-B sent it a signal through SOS to shut the car down. After contacting them and stating it was in a shop they reprogrammed it to run again...............that freaked me out.

 

 

Wow, that's awful man. I hope you find out how it happened, or much more importantly, they never show their faces on your property again or cause you any more trouble.

 

We might need to consider this for quote of the year!!!

Oxygen, sorry about your car. At least they didn't vandalize it in the process. Did you recently valet park somewhere? Always take your house keys with you when you do. It's very easy for someone to make a clay mold and reproduce a key. This happened to a friend of mine - his house key, not his car.

Looking at around $900.00 for everything. This is dealer pricing, if I priced this out as a 'walk-up-customer' it would be well over $1000.00...

 

I take it you didn;t bother your insurance company about this? I dont know why... Are the trims paint matched? if not there's some extra $$..

 

Yes, I bothered them about it. It's covered under vandalism insurance, with a $1,000 deductible.

The trim is plastic and comes painted from MB.

I did not order the parts, I just wanted to price it out to see which route it's best to take.

 

It's good it comes factory painted by M-B, however only problem with that is it might not be 100% matched with the paint as they're obviously not able to color code it completely.

 

Paint doesn't fade like it used to back in the day,,


My passenger mirror cover came pre painted and it matched perfectly 3 years later.

Well... I just remembered something.

I highly doubt it was the contractor working here. I had a conversation with him one time.

We were in my kitchen and I asked him if he wanted some wine... here was his response:

"No, thank you. I have never drank wine before, nor will I ever have any. This is because I know that when I die, and go to heaven, god will provide me with the most amazing wine, so no thanks."

Using such logic, I would assume that god is going to provide him with the best AMG Mercedes imaginable once he get's up there, so no reason to steal parts off of my previous generation S-Class.
