My stock S65 on DR's goes 11.59@122...movies/time slips inside.
**EDIT** My stock S65 ON DRAG RADIALS goes 11.59@122**
I went out to Houston Raceway Park on Friday night....got there 2hrs early to make sure I got in a few good runs before the crowd moved in. As I teched in the tech guy tells me "be extra careful, we just re-surfaced the track....you'll be the first one down it" Lovely. Just what I wanted to hear. Anyway long story short the track was slick as hell......my best on PS2's was 12.37@117.8- car was impossible to 60ft with the 45degree air and the newly surfaced track. I bolted on some DR's and made one pass- 11.75@120. I left HRP frustrated as I only made 4 passes in 5hrs....they had 2 oil downs and a guy in a 911 drive off the end of the track at a buck 40. Nice.
None the less, I was disappointed.
Woke up Saturday and headed to Sealy for a day of test and tune in the sun.....air was 70 degrees, nasty cross wind, light crowd, well prepped track....time to make as many passes as I could handle. I didn't even waste time on the PS2's....I bolted on the DR's and made several runs.....11.77@120, 11.63@122, 11.62@122, 11.64@123.78, 11.59@122....my best short time was 1.763 and best mph was the 122.78. My car is 100% stock and weighed 5020lbs with 1/2 tank of gas and me in it. What other car you can you drive to the track in with your 18"DR's, floor jack and all your tools in the trunk??
There are a few people in Sealy that have a new found respect for Mercedes, I can assure you of that. I had all kinds of folks checking out the car....and many questioning it being stock.
Here's a time the time slip and a vid of me and a 660rwhp Cobra on full slicks/skinnies. We talked after the pass....great guy. I asked him what he had done to the car and he said "everything you can think of." I was asleep at the light but 60ft'd much better than him, LOL. He ended up getting me by about a car.
I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Kleemann package on the way and I hope to have some results from the track in the next couple of weeks for you guys.
TIME SLIP- I'm on the LEFT in all of these.

Amazing. Next time give me a PM before you head out, because I would make time to see your car in action. Houston is dominated by domestics and import tuners, and I very rarely get to see a AMG fly down the track. These cars always catch a few racers off guard.
It's a shame HMP didn't have a fast track that night as it usually is a pretty fast one.

awesome...I am glad that somebody has finally bolted some drag radials to a stock S65. Get a tune and do it again....there is an 11.0@128 with a renntech tune on dragtimes.com for and S65. Great runs.

Busa: Get the Kleemann ECU/TCU on there and lets what kind of time you get!!! 11.59 is already very impressive. I wondering if it will go in the 10s.
I like how you drive there with everything in the car. The BiTurbos Rock!

Nice job Busa. That thing is flying! I would love to hear a few more details like launch technique as well as what brand/size drag radials you were running. Thanks for posting up all of the information, I am sure that you surprised a lot of people with that car!

I ran it in dyno mode.....no ESP at all. That's the only way to get a good burnout and ET, IMO.
I ran the car on Mickey Thompson ET Streets 265/40/18......traction was no problem. As far as "launch technique" is concerned, very simple......I stood on the brake as hard as I could and power braked the car up to about 3k and then let go when I saw green. 3k is the point where the torque of the car overcomes the brakes and you can barely manage to hold it still......I thought I was going to physically "bend" the brake pedal from pushing on it so hard. MB bulids a solid car, no doubt about it

I am thinking about ordering a pair of those same tires...overall, how happy are you with them? Are you driving on them to the track? or swapping the wheels over once you get there? How do they drive if you are driving them? I am looking to simply buy a pair of stock rears to throw the DR's on, but I will not be able to get to the track with 2 wheels/tires, jack, etc...unless someone goes with me with a truck/van/suv. Also, where did you order the tires from. I see that Summit has them for $250/ea, so far that is the best price I have found.
I was at Sealy yesterday and definately could have used some traction...my car had to run with ESP on and that was to muster a 2.00 60', been nice to have some tires under the car to run some better times.
Also, let me know next time you are planning to go to the track, I would like to get together and watch your car run sometime. A friend of mine is also looking to run his stage 1 E55 as well one of these days.

Hi Scott- I'm extremely happy with the MT ET Streets.....I've had BFG DR's and Nitto's in the past and nothing compares to the MT's- by far the best DR I've ever had. I don't remember the exact price, but $500 for the pair sounds about right- I got mine from Discount Tire. I don't drive to the track on them and have very little "street time" on them. They're extremely soft and not really meant to be sported around on a 5klb car, so I tend to use them at the track only. Not to mention that I'd probably get about 2k miles out of them if I left them on the car.
Get you some ET Streets and put your car in 'Dyno Mode' and the hit the track.....I think you'll be amazed at the difference. I'll let you know the next time I head out there.

Nope- not yet. My secondary driver is down at the moment (ironically becasue I mailed off the ECU to get it reflashed)....waiting to get it back on the road before I mail off my ECU on the Benz. I'll let you know when I get it installed.
