driver side xenon headlight not working

Hi all,

On my 2000 s500. The driver side headlight low beam wont turn on.

I bought a new xenon bulb and the light still wont come on. I checked the fuses and everything seems to be working.

Any ideas on what to do next.

thanks

Umar

Control unit or Ignitor either way you are looking at a lot of cash.

If it's the ballast call a junk yard. Ask them to sell you the ballast Or the whole Headlight. Hell I think I saw a FULL set of XENON Sclass Headlights on Dallas craigslist for $600

I can check for you, but honestly I don't think they are correct. I know those are for a BMW I have both of those exact parts in my 3 series. I tried to do the ebay thing and the one I bought was faulty. I suggest you try the junk yard as stated or maybe a body shop they have broken headlights laying around usually. On the location the ignitor should be behind the plastic cap where the bulb is and I believe the control unit is on the side of the head lamp assembly I could be wrong though.

The headlight assembly.....right on the bottom, you can miss it.
Try turning on the lights with the bulb disconnected, if you hear sparks than its working. Just make sure its not touching metal.

I had this problem. Wasn't the bulb, turned out to be the ballast that is located under the headlamp itself. I got the ballast from a local seller I can give you the link but I'm currently on my phone. Try searching my thread. If it's the ballast it's a pretty simple dyi.

If it's non-projector(00-02) then yes, if it's a projector housing(03-06) it's D2S. Just take out the old bulb and take a look.

Mercedes S55 AMG 2002
just found out my 2002 s55 amg's ignitors are faulty from what the dealers said. they want to charge almost $7k to repair both ignitors. can't believe that. i said no.. and now i am seeing the left light flicker and display says low beam left light faulty on the display.

what parts do i need to do this? i hope this is not too difficult to replace the ignitors.. wondering if i could take my car to a third party to replace the headlights with non-mbz.

thanks for your advice.

either look in the "GROUP BUYS" section of this forum to get complete HID kit for under $100, with bulbs ballast etc.. or get on your local craiglist to see who installs HID kits for about $150 total parts and labor.

It wont be Mercedes OEM, but it will work and save you $6900
