Engineering mode on w220 s-class?
Does anyone know how to enable engineering mode on w220 s-class?
I mean the one which is enabled via steering wheel buttons not on the comand buttons.

Dyno Mode disableds ESP completely, disables ABS, disables BAS, disables pre-safe and basically gets you full power to the rear wheels.
I use it when on the dyno and when drag racing at the track...
It will not turn off automatically so do not forget to select off when you are done playing around.

I bought my car from an old man, and it just never seemed powerfull enough. then i did this last night....
all i have to say is holy S***....
highly recommended
"copy & pasted"
i wouldnt call it a ECU Reset more like a reflash or tcu reflash but anyway...
ECU Reset:
- Turn the ignition key to the "on" position.
- Press the gas pedal to the WOT position (do not click though) and hold it for 5 seconds.
- Now turn the key to the off position but don't remove the key.
- Release the throttle.
- Wait 2 minutes

Accessing Engineering Mode of Command Center
I have been trying to get into Engineering Mode for some time but, so far, nothing works. I have now found that the 'R' (Reset) button is just above the key at the right hand side of the instrument cluster. All I get by doing this is an indication in the display of the battery voltage. Maximum is 14 volts.
My car is fine but a friend, with the same vehicle, has a problem in that the sound goes off when he starts the engine (voltage on battery goes up and he has replaced the alternator - somebody's duff and expensive suggestion). We know, after various test, that there is some overvoltage trip (kills the sound) and it must be set too low. Some say this voltage level trip is in the Command Center, hence the need to get into Engineering mode in the hope that voltage level setting will be there. There may even be a 'Set to factory settings' but I don't know as I have never been able to get at it. Some say an upgrade - which one - disables the Engineering Mode. My friend has been told he needs it re-programmed (£150) but there is so much duff advice about. Any good advice on this appreciated especially how to get into Engineering Mode on the Command Center. This is a UK vehicle. The Mute + Phone Down + Serv for 45 secs does nothing.
Since that time I have found: Hold the Mute Button then press and hold Nos. 1 & 3 on the keypad and a Menu comes up. No 'Welcome to Engineering Mode' or anything like that - just a Menu, which enables you to look at things but do nothing. Loads of numbers, etc, but nothing really useful.
Regarding the sound going off when the engine is started (voltage increases above 12 volts) it has been traced to the power amplifier and what looks like the radio (components hidden behind a metal screen) module in the boot. We swopped parts from my car until the fault moved - sound OK in his car and his power amplifier module dies in mine. New module from Mercedes is £380 +Vat; one found in a scrap yard for a lot less. I am now considering as to what might be the problem. The 'voltage trip' might just be in the power IC; need the number from the IC to look up the data. He would have bought a new module from Mercedes had not some fool, whom he paid £40 for 'advice', not advised him the alternator was giving out too much voltage - based on what information I have no idea. He bought and fitted a new alternator. Had we found the 'trick' of getting the voltage to read in the display he would have known this was rubbish. I only came into his problem later on and found how to read the voltage. This useless advice cost him a new alternator and a days work fitting it. Anybody need an OK alternator? We are now extremely wary of anybody who offers 'advice' and what was this reprogramming stuff for £150 somebody told him? More duff 'advice' I expect.
