530i with the 5-speed manual. I would have gone for a 540i, but those have higher upkeep costs, and I'm done with headaches.

thats a pretty strong statement. My parents had a 530i 6 speed and an E39 M5, and both were lovely cars. Excellent styling, comfortable and quiet interior, decent performance.

I prefer the W220 as well, but they most certainly do not suck *****.

My W220 was such a POS, I would have chose a 525i over it.

Yeah. One thing though, no such thing as a 530i with a 6-speed. Well, with the E39 anyway.

You really must have had problems to have this view of them.

Nice cars all the same (hence i had 4 of them) but nothing like in the same league as the V8 big benz's

On paper, my 530i 5-spd goes faster than a W220 S430.

In reality, having owned both, thats complete nonsense though The point was more that they are just nowhere near as good though, in everything from interior space to ride quality. Totally different class of car i guess.
