Lightbulb Dealer cost for Extended Warranty

I am trying to negotiate a deal on 2006, S600 with 18K miles on it. No additional equipment except the "AMG appreance package" The original warranty expires in September of this year.

Dealer is asking $44K for the car (which is somewhat higher than KBB value)

I would like the dealer to give me one year of CPO warranty included in that price but I need to know what is the wholesale price to the dealer for adding the warranty so I can negotiate from a position of power.

I cant find the wholesale warranty price anywhere.......This seems to be the most closely guarded secret in all of automotive industry!!!

Any help is appreciated

it is based upon modle

that is the flagship of the S class even if it isnt fully loaded.we had an issue with our 2003 S500 sport where the dealer only added 12 instead of 24 months to the car and we had to negotiate it 2 weeks after the sale.MBUSA normally will not do this after the point of sale but the dealer admitted to the error.the normal cost of the cpo warranty on our modle was $2400 for each year and the dealer made $400 of that.we paid $2000.the S600 is bound to be more expensive but if the margin is the same figuer on a 20% profit to the dealer.44k for that car is allowing you to own a $100k flagship for a fraction of the cost, imo i would add nothing less than 24 additional months on top of the remaining warranty and see if you can get the car out the door for $47k.does it have the rear power seats and side window shades?

Finally I got the answer (unnamed source) - a 3 yr/75K extended warranty on '06, S600 has a wholesale price of $ 3250. Most dealers will sell it for $ 6000 to 8000. I have also learnt that at most dealerships the Finance department is NOT ALLOWED to negotiate on the price of Ext Warranty.

On a side note, I am amazed at the HUGE depreciation on 2006, S600's. The maximum retail you can get on a low mileage, excellent condition car is $ 41,500!

( I think this is a consequence of the complete redesign in 2007 and also the economy)

can you ask (unnamed source) what the cost for a similar warranty, if available, would cost for an '04 S55 with <19K miles?

After reading about the $75,000 engine replacement on the ML63, I'm starting to get concerned that the extend warranty I purchased won't cover AMG parts

unfortunately, this extended warranty is only available as long as your original warranty is still in effect!

I was thinking that was the case.

What about extending CPO coverage? I am CPO'd through 12-30-2010

Please keep in mind that the dealer's cost on the vehicle will change. Be prepared to possibly pay more for the vehicle than they have quoted you now. The vehicle will have to be put back through their shop to have a certification inspection performed and may require more work (and costs) to obtain a CPO warranty. Example: brake pads currently at 40% remaining, good enough for a used car inspection, but must be a minimum of 50% to certify the vehicle. These things might increase their asking price for the vehicle. Also other things such as minor curb rash on the wheel(s), lower bumper scratches, door dings, would have to be addressed to meet the certification.

Just for point of reference here, my 2004 S600, with 41,000 miles cost me $3200 for 2 years and up to 100,000 for my CPO warrenty. So they either gave it to me at cost, which I HIGHLY doubt, our your figures aren't accurate my friend. That price was from Bobby Rahal Mercedes in Wexford PA. By the way, they did tell me that the V12 adds $1200 to the warrenty cost over a S500 or 430, FYI.

Good luck

See yeah
