Break Lining Wear message doesnt go away!

I got the "break lining wear" message....
so I thought it was the brake pads... i replaced the brake pads and got new sensors as well.

However, the message still doesnt go away... ?
What is wrong?

You replaced all brake pads and all sensors?

Did you use oem sensors?

Are you sure they are fully plugged in?

SOmetimes you get aftermrket pads and the whole for the sensors are a little smaller and you force the sensor into the whole damaging it.

Thaat could work for oem pads also. if the sensors crush in the slightest amout, they will complete the citcuit that detects worn pad and give you a message.

On the w220 unplgging them does the trick. ( just as a test ).

On others like the ML the circuit has to be made to defeat signalization so they actually have to be shorted together.

Yes. Or unplug. This is how the 2004+ models are but you can try either way.

Why don't you just spend 8 bucks on new sensors and insert them the right way? You could even plug them in before installing them and make sure they work then you will know that it was the insertion that made them bad.

On the 220 system if you unplug them it will set a the warning off. since the c class 203 body in 01 all systems are a two wire not the old one wire ground style they used to have

One of the sensors are probably not pluged in or damaged

Good luck

So which one is it?
Unplug message goes away? Or unplug and the message is still there?

Thanks.

after u installed the pads did u attempt to clear the fault? Just because you changed the pads and installed new sensors will not make the message go away because it is still stored in the system. You do not need to go as far as unplugging the sensors. All u need to do is turn your car on, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, then turn it all the way to the right, or it could be the other way around I dont think it makes a difference.(This clears all the faults) After u do this turn the car off. Then turn the car back on and VOILLA THE MESSAGE WILL BE GONE! That is assuming the new sensors are installed correctly and are not still triggering a fault message

When you say turn the car on, does that mean crank it up, or turn it only until you get all the accessory lights come on?

When you are in the malfunction display mode, have you tried pushing the R reset button on the far left

I simply push it and held it in for a few seconds, and whola

PS: Mine is an 04, and this also worked on my TPS system when I change pressure for spirited driving

So I know this is ten years old I didn't want to start the same topic that was created. But I just picked up a W220, I replaced pads rotors and sensors and warrantied the sensors again and it won't go away. I checked all over Google and Identifix and haven't found a common fix for this. Has anyone figured anything out in the last decade lolol?
