Sounds like a failed relay could have burnt out the pump

There are several posts on the location and replacement of the airmatic strut; a search of the forum should find them for you. In the alternative, this post was right beside yours on the W220 page: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ompressor.html. If you replace the burned out pump, also replace the relay (and be sure it's a Hella relay; see http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ump-relay.html and https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ic-failed.html

You can drive (slowly) to the shop even with the warning light - but if you must travel fast or on bumpy roads, I suggest getting the car towed (with a tilt-bed truck).

I don't know of any luxury car that is inexpensive to fix when it breaks.
