Resale of s600 without AMG package
I'm looking at a 2006 s600 w 30k miles for $32K. Seems like a great price. But, it doesn't have the AMG package, which not only helps the cars looks, but seems to have a significant impact on price. However, if I drive this for a year, I've got to think I can get $25k on trade-in without a problem.
What do you think?
If not this, then for the same price and miles, I'd need to go to a 2003...

nj: Let me know if you don't go through with it. That sounds like a good deal. I'd buy it if it were black/black, silver/black, or white/black. Make sure to get a warranty.
If you are worried about impact on price, get a Honda Accord it will hold more value.

The Sports package cost is around $5K but it makes the car look much better and improves resale value. Without the Sports Pkg. the S class cars look kind of wimpy.
If you like this car, then get it since there are many sources for similar body kits around you can add later.

Thanks, John, but looking for lower mileage.
the 2006 doesn't have bluetooth and needs tires. without the AMG kit, I think I'm going to wait. It's a great deal for someone that wants a boring s600 though.
it's on autotrader and cars if someone else is looking.

It isn't this one is it because frame damage is reported which explains the price.

$32k is dirt cheap for a 600 like you describe if it is in good nick. I was on the lookout for an '05/'06 S600 with sub 50k miles and for a clean one in the right colour and was expecting to fork out close to $40,000 for an '05 with ca. 35,000 miles.

His last CL was a salvage/stolen car as well, but I think it turned out too be alright. Njcpa likes to play with fire.

MBWorld Fanatic!
To be honest, I can't imagine the NON AMG package to fall any quicker than a AMG equipped S600. NEITHER holds their value at all, unfortunately.
Personally, I did hold out for a AMG sport package car, simply because IMHO it looks SO MUCH BETTER. To plain without it, again IMHO.
But value, I really don't think it makes a sh-t of difference.
Good luck
And that 06 for under 30K, RUN forest RUN

The Carfax report didn't have that info. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to pass. Yes - I'll play with fire, but not at that price. Maybe at $25k...

That vehicle has had an interesting life...since being repo'd it has been around half the second hand car dealers on the East Coast!
