another s500 airmatic failure
Howdy, I got an 01 s500 and the car is sitting on the fenders in my driveway. I cant even turn the front wheels, the car looks like it has an airbag kit. I read some of the other forums and I sprayed the strut towers w no leaks. Where is the fuse for that and where is the compressor pump? Thanks in advance!

Do a bit more searching- you'll find plenty. Quickly, the relay for the Airmatic pump is in slot O on the passenger side. Replacing it would be my first step, and then raising the car manually. If the relay failed in the open position, your pump is burned out, which is a bit more expensive. Good luck.

Dude Take out that relay...its mostlikely stuck on 'ON' position & prob did burn out ur pump... if you dont pull the relay its gonna kill ur battery.. im dealing with this issue right now, i just went to move my car and no juice whats so ever...
my situation was the relay got stuck and the pump went crazy even with the car turned off.. fukin relay burnt the pump out.... after a few days the car is a lowrider now. i left everything alone since and today i go to move it and nothing...relay killed the battery
went to service and they said 77$ for a relay - JOKE
that site has the multi purpose relay for 7$
the cheapest i seen a pump for was 261$
ebay for 299 - Shipped - which isnt bad - and its a easy DIY

::::::::::::UPDATE::::::::::::
I just finished the install of the new compressor and it was a *****, only attempt if you have space and weather area - not in the middle of street like me =o)
1-The new design calls for a longer tube for the intake side
2-Make sure pums not upside down - if so you'll notice the it become had to screw back
3-have patients with the job
4-If not you'll be venting like me on this site lol
5-POWER CONNECTOR will most likely have to be torn apart due to plastic melted on to pins inside from years of usage. That was the hardest part.
6-Dont forget to remove rubber gromits from old pump and install on new. 3 all together
7- MY ADVICE = SHOP LOCAL SHOPS FOR THE CHEAPEST INSTALL PRICE, Theres nothing to this install...just about 2hours

**** joker I got tired of waiting for the rain to stop so I threw a tarp over the car in my driveway n threw a sheet o cardboard down n yanked the pump. I've already switched the relay but now car was low to start? anywho..
#1 what new intake hose? theres the small pressure line to the valve body, and then a drain line with a check valve? that was hanging loose
#2 better not been upside down lol
#3 too many damn bolts holding the wheelwell n enginecover clips!
#4 im here with ya bro lol
#5 plastic was cool
#6 do that when new pump shows up

oh no, Believe that the new pump is Fckin LOUD.. Still would love to know why it was re-designed..but its working well - When the pump kicks on, I just put music up when i have a chick in the car lol they think its the road noise
the intake side was repositioned to the other side so a longer hose is needed....
but over all, its worth the DYI
