Merce4des Benx W 220 S Class 320 CDI
W 220 Command Console (Problems) 2001 Model
Petermerc (Newbie) But as ever enthusiastic to learn and appreciate all the help and advice from this wonderful site especially already my thanks to CLASSY S who has "steered me here" with this topic. This is probably old hat now, but is nonetheless very important to me! I hope that at a later stage rather than posing questions and problems, with my experience over time , I will be able to offer the same advice willingly to other members also. Specifics are - than I have had a water ingress problem rear nearside tyre well (now sorted) - dran plug removed, and as a result I believe I have had a short in my CD changer not now functioning. So far I have checked fuses changed the 20 amp fuse associated with the CD changer, - after removal, returned it but still no joy. Strangely though, Command Console now shows no telephone, and no tv, in addition to no cd changer. All were previously functioning perfectly! Several resets with the Battery terminal (Negative) of course removed first and last, - a wait of the standard twenty minutes or so in the hopes that everything would sort itself out but still no joy. Any help or advice would be greatly as ever appreciated and sorry to have started with such a long topic and subject matter, Thank you again for allowing me to be a part of this terrific community, which used sensibly is the single most valuable source of advice for any keen Mercedes enthusiast. One last point, the tape deck and radio still function as normal. petercoysh@virginmedia.com (petermerc)

Hey everyone I need some help. I just bought a 2000 S500 W220, but the owner had it sitting for a while. By sitting the long the car dropped all the down. About 2 inches off the ground. I started the vehicle, but the bottom caught on fire. Guess there was some papers or leaves. I called the fire department and the horse down the car - carefully - thank God. Unfortunately, there was water in the car. I was wondering if water got in through the interior filter area. If not, where could had gotten into from.
#56
not sure how water got inside your car, where did fire dept point thier hose at ?as far as the car dropping,my guess is you have abc system, active body control,a very complex suspension system, first check abc fluid, could be located under hood drivers side,i have an 03 s55 & that is where mine is located,& also check under your car for any fluid leaks, welcome to mb world

The fire dept pointed the hose on the passenger side behind the engine and the firewall. My guess is water may have gotten in through the cabin filter air intake chamber because the drain hole was clogged. I am currently trying to gut the interior and clean it. I also need a new SAM module located under the rear seat on the passenger side. Any idea if any 2000 s500 W220 SAM module would work? I already replaced the rear fused box along with the fuses and relays. Would anyone know if any additional components may required replacing?

do not post questions
This is a thread for advice and not a bloody starting point for anyone who wants feee advice, here and now, directly and precisely for the dumbest questions ... so you do not have to search for the answers elsewhere. May nobody posting a question here get an answer.
So here is my advice: i left the passenger's window of my W220 open by accident and the car was left outside in the rain for the entire weekend. The leather seat was saturated and so was the carpet. The leather of the door was wet but not stained.
After drying off no damage was left other than on the door's wood trim. Along the lower edge it discoloured and turned light. No advice could be obtained and so i tried WD40: it worked!
The wood is back to dark and the laquer on top of the wood was unaffected. The WD40 penetrated into the wood at the bottom of the wood trim, between the metal frame and the laquer. Hot weather and repeat application is better.

Changed all 3 mounts.
Symptoms of failed motor mount:Start up car from Key 2 to Ignition if engine jumps or vibrates its time, it should be silent with zero vibration as if turning on a hovercraft.

2000 mercedes s430
no start w220 s430
cps... crankshaft position positioning sensor. after 130k miles we had an intermittent no start usually at idle after the car was warm. Common problem as I researched. Crankshaft positioning sensor was the (common) problem. $55 at autozone and $50 under the table to my Excellent Mechanic. Fix it now before you have a $$$$$ tow to fix a $100 repair.

In the '03 and later, it is described in the owner's manual () as a storage compartment for glasses, or for a phone. The cup holders are in the slide-out compartment at the front of the armrest.

The post immediately preceding is a copy and paste of the first thread, the index, of the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia that I maintain on BenzWorld. Because it is copy/paste, most of the links shown will not work, because as links they are abbreviated rather than being the full URL; ordinarily they would take you to the section of the thread dealing with those subjects, but most of these won't.
I am not trying to poach MBWorld members; to avoid the frustration from trying to use the dead links above, I am providing a link to the active thread, so that MBWorld members who wish can use the index as intended. It is http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...tart-here.html and the links will work there.
I maintain the Encyclopedia on BW because as a moderator there, I can lock the thread to preserve it as a reference tool; also, I can always edit and update it. Not being a moderator here, I could not do either of those things on the version posted here, and repeated interjection of discussion questions by some members diminished the thread's use as a reference tool.

Hello fellow mb owners. I recently bought a beautiful s430 out of florida and i love this automobile except the gas mileage :0
I do have a couple of issues i wanted feedback on. firstly, the srs light came on this weekend for no reason and reads "visit workshop". is this something i can fix?
Secondly, my blower motor comes on when it wants to. Is the blower motor easily replaced?
I look forward to hearing back for anyone who can advise me

Hi guys I'm actually in the market for a new model and have found a 2003 S600 v12 twin turbo with 100k miles and for $2600 under blue book value. It is from a dealership, but still want to keep my wit's about me. Is there any advice what to keep an eye out for om that model if it was mistreated or any opinions on the model as a whole. Thanks
