Why don't you try searching the forum? I just searched and easily found what you're looking for. Give it a try.

Aight jerk!!! U found the awnser and posted "go search it I found it" on my thread. I'm trying to get a quick awnser, I'm not that stupid. I can do research but I'm trying to get a quick response. So the general awnser for someone who asks for help is....do a search!!! Woow that's the spirit, thanks for the help i will do a search, since u found it and didn't share the awnser to my question. I never had a jerk awnser like this on any other forum I've been to. Booo

If you didn't have attitude in your second post in this thread, I would've gladly posted the link for you. Since you had to go act like an *******, which you seem to be quite good at, I decided to let you help yourself.

In reply to your "need" of a quick response, you could have EASILY and quickly found what you were looking for. It probably would've been quicker than posting this unnecessary thread.

the brakes on your S are pretty much straight forward, based on your other vehicles and a diy'er you will have no problem.there are some great threads in this forum with pic's and step by step instructions.i highly recommend the "STAR SERVICE"dvd approx $90 from a dealer.it is the same tech data/methods used by the dealer to maintain these cars.you cant guess your way through maintaining a MB.the most common oversight by the diy mech on their first brake job is that the E brake is internal to the rear rotor.you must release the E brake to remove the rear rotors.DONT forget about BAS if your vehicle is equipped with it.

Wait, aren't YOU the one asking for HELP? What's with the attitude? Too lazy to do a search?

What are you, 12 years old? Grow up.

@AH1W-COBRA hey thank you very much for the info it really helps alot. Much appriciated.

@QUAD BENZ u were never gonna share that info with me anyways cause your 2 posts on my thread were almost 10hours apart so if u did do the research why would u post it almost 10 hours later? So dont go on trying to get credit for trying to help when your intensions was to never help anyways. I forgot your awnser was " do a search". U SNOB!!!

@ ARNEE yeah I was asking for help and I'm lucky enough that AH1W-COBRA shared the information with me. Why are u getting in the mix anyways? If u ain't got the awnser, go loo. On some other threads posted. Ur a loser too. And if I am 12 years old that means I'm Rollin a Benz just like u.

If I ever had the awnser or did research on a job that someone here needed, I would gladly share it. That's kinda weak if your awnser was just "do a search"!! What if 1 did a search and was unsuccessful in finding the info like myself. That "do a search yourself" awnser or " I've found it" but didn't share the info is really a JERK move. So my words to the 2 jerkoffs was based on what they replied to me. I don't go off spitin fire at people for no reason.

Say what? You drive a 2000 S500 cause they're dirt cheap. I know, cause I got mine dirt cheap.

What I also know is how to use the search function.

These cars have been around for 10+ years and that possibly anything you need has already been published.

Since when did rednecks have interests in S-classes?

I'm going to use the ignore function now, so don't bother replying, METERSF.

METERSF, you might want to take a look at https://mbworld.org/forums/suggestio...-guy-help.html - you'll see why you're coming into a little criticism - and why the 58 people who viewed your first post may not have responded by the time of your second.

Because of this thread, I tried something. When I searched "replace brakes" I got 50 threads in response. When I searched "replace rotors" I got 40. Unless I had a really good wrteup already bookmarked (and I have over 1500 bookmarks, which would have to be searched), I 'd have to go through the search results. That means I would be doing your work for you, so you would have your "quick answer."

Sorry, I'd just as soon you showed some small effort on your own behalf. Like many folks on the forum, I am willing to help someone who has tried to find the knowledge we have already shared, but who have not been able to come up with the answer, or who have a new twist to the question. I'm not about to consider your time more valuable than mine by doing your basic searching and reading through the results for you.

Now, if you want to pay me for that, my fee is $400 an hour; I equate my free time as being as valuable as my work time.

AH1W-Cobra provided some helpful hints - but note that his basic response was either search, or buy a service disc.

Last, the forum can do without the name-calling.

I'm not trying to get credit for anything. I easily found what you were looking for. You had an attitude so I decided to let you try and easily find it as well. There's nothing more to it.

There's no way you did a search and were unsuccessful because I searched and found it in less than a minute. You're just LAZY.

Maybe...maybe not. For example, in other forums some people would rather post a trivial question than to first consult the manual. It's pure laziness, enabled by the "ease" of internet usage, which disables common sense.

It's also the age of the buyers. The W220s are very affordable to get into now by most, and a lot of buyers seem to not be from MBs target group for this car, which is why we also see some of the cheap and tacky mods that we do. The W220 is losing the prestige that it once had.
It's natural though. It's happening with the E65/66 7-Series and will happen with the W221 soon enough.

MB buyback policy!

if MB would initiate a buyback program on all w220 cars in "excellent"condition and at least 7 years since first registered, give us a $30k credit toward the purchase of a new MB id buy another one tomorrow.i would love to buy up but refuse to give away our current S to some wanna look like i got money poser who will only whine, complaine and bad mouth MB cause they cant afford to maintain the car.IMO this policy would improve MB reliability/reputation.i know im dreaming!

I agree to that, and it's true for all cars. For example, the Rennlist 996 forum has been changing similarly. It doesn't mean, however, that all of the kids buying these cars are as unenthusiastic about the marque as they are enthusiastic about the bling.

The E65/E66 is all over the place here in SoCal (much more so than the W220, I notice) and you see all sorts of age group driving them. I see more 745s than 750s though, because the 750s just haven't come down in price enough.

What *might* minimize this "effect" is the cost to maintain the electronics or the difficulty in modifying the electronics (i.e. MOST, D2B, K-bus, etc).
