The reason ( and not to defent the dealer I know nothign about them ), th price is so high is that other than the erat, the are not a body shop.
Even if they had a body shop on site, they will still charge their normal labor rates per hour Unlike a body shop that uses a labor guide to determine the rtes for certain body work. If they don;t have shop that measn the work get's outsourced and they become the middle man. Guess who pays for that extra commision?

The rule is:

Got a broken window? go to the window shop.
Need body work? find the best bodyshop in town.
Need new tires? proceed to your nearest tire shop.
Ya get what I'm saying here??

THere is NO real gain from taking you car to the dealer who just does Servicing to get specialized work done. All you are going to do is get ripped, and more than likey the body shop, or window repair guy that you could have found in the yellow pages will be the one showing up to the dealer to fix your car anyway.
