so the dealer says the rear flex disc is cracking
what exactly is this, and what does it do
the dealaer said its a safety issue and should get it fixed
what are the symtoms of this
can someone fill me in on the details of this
also they said the front driver side ball joint is worn and will cist 500 for replacement, seems alot, what would be they symptoms of this
tranny mount worn? 135 bucks
car is 2001, 136000 miles
is this normal wear tear stuff or the dealer being a dealer

these are all common items that wear out on these cars, but you can probably drive another 100k miles just like it is.
The whole car has 130k miles, I see no reason why these need to be newer than the rest of the parts on the car just because they show signs of wear. If you arent noticing symptoms/clunking/creaking there is no need to service these unless you want a perfect car

Also take a look at the "Drive Train" portion of the "W220 Owners Start Here" sticky at the top of the W220 section of the forum. For an indication of the kind of damage that can occur from letting a flex disc go to failure, see the link at post #15 in the flex disc thread. Although from an R107, it's pretty impressive.
