Definitely not a Dension Gateway 500, but I don't know what it is.
You can download the GW 500 installation instruction on the Dension site - http://www.dension.com/index.php?pag...Gateway%20500; the connections are shown. Those just don't match. The GW500 doesn't use the mini-USB plug, the coax connector, or the 3.5mm jack.

Skylaw.. Thanks.
From your response, am I to believe then that the connectors in the photo I provided are not consistent with the Dension product line at all? When the Ipod is running I get a Dension splash screen on the Ipod. If I recall, it is a black and white screen.

I haven't researched the photos and installation manuals for the entire Dension product line. I leave that to you. The only Dension product I am aware of for the W220 is the Gateway 500, and it is not that. I understand the Gateway Lite may be usable with Mecedes (Mercedes isn't listed in the Dension compatibility chart for the GW Lite, though) - and I don't know what connectors it uses.
It is possible that the iPod plug connects to a Gateway 500; but one would have to see the other end of it to see if it has the round 9-pin connector a GW500 uses (and then, that's still not much assurance). Even the iPod bottom connector you show is not a Dension product that I have seen; it looks more like a standard Apple product. You can see the one that came with the GW 500 in the second photo in post #3 in the link below.
The 3 connectors I mentioned are not used with the GW 500. You may have to pull the COMAND unit and see what the connectors go to to answer the question. Instructions for that are at https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...ml#post2234888
