Balo Disks and Akebono Pads - 5*

Just had the brakes done on all 4 wheels. Going with

Akebono Brake Pad Set (W0133-1664585) 97.95

Akebono Brake Pad Set (W0133-1791781) 84.95

Balo Brake Disc (W0133-1718292) 153.95

Balo Brake Disc (W0133-1611919) 123.95

From autopartswarehouse. Local mechanic installed for $250 in labor.

After 2 weeks, I'm very satisfied. No squeaks, no squeals, nothing. Brakes bite really good. And no dust at all. Very happy with the parts (I was hesitant at first after hearing many stories about annoying squeaks and squeals going with new brakes etc).

I just ordered the Akebono pads and some replacement disks for my Toyota Sequoia as they'll need to be replaced as well.

Where did you get the Akebono pads and rotors? TireRack has the pads but more expensive than other posts I have seen.

Also, reviews of Akebono pads say there is no initial bite and the brake application becomes more gradual. Do you concur with this?

Thanks.

Mercedes
$480 in parts, $250 labor is for all 4 wheels not bad at all.

I paid $480 parts and labor for my fronts only, that was using MB parts

All parts were from autopartswarehouse dot com. I first went to tirerack but they didn't carry pads for both the Front & Rear. Weird!

The Akebono pads are fabulous. Works great from day 1. Didn't break it in or anything. Took it home from the Indy and just drive. Great parts. I'm a happy camper with them.

I read all the reviews of the Akebono pads on TireRack, most said these pads provide a gradual bite when brake pedal is applied, instead of a hard initial bite. Do you agree with these comments?

It does feel that way. I just apply the brakes as normal without extra efforts. I thought it was too soft and too gentle at first. But now going on 3 weeks, I'm used to the feel, and like it even more.

And I tested it out by hitting the brakes hard for a quick stop, and it bites as I asked it to.

No complaint at all. That's why gave the combo (Pads & Rotors) 5 Stars.
