Arrow Looking for some advice for buying a s600

I am currently looking to purchases a 01/02, or 03 S600 Mercedes. I am not too familiar with these vehicles and I am looking for some guidence on what a good price is for those year vehicles. In my research there seem to be many areas of concearn with this vehicle such as suspension, electrical, leaks etc. I am just wondering what is a good price for those years and how many miles the v12 will last. Obviously with any motor it would depend on the condition it was treated through its life but over all its life expectancy if maintained and serviced properly ? any help in this would be greatly appreciated
thanks,

wondering many of the same things. i am considering a 2002 s600 with a little over 100k miles. ive been doing research and joined the forum obviasly i have been using the search button but since i came across this thread i will chime in. i was wondering what a "good" price would be also what know problem are there and can someone expand on the "leaks" ive heard of. also how do all the electrical options hold up i love the options but would not want them to start dropping off and ticking me off. lloking forward to reply. just overall wondering the pros cons what to pay and what to expect from an 02 s600. thanks in advance.

7 - 9 year old used V12 could be very expensive without a warranty, and it may even be hard to find a decent warranty.

A Mercedes obviously!
Don't consider the non TT V12s. They're notoriously unreliable, with cripplingly expensive problems and you won't find a warranty company willing to write a policy.

By yourself the most recent one with the lowest miles that you can afford. You're much better off waiting until you can get an '03 or more recent model; better looks, better and more reliable engine, upgraded interior w/widescreen COMAND, oh an the two turbos

The way W220s drop in value it won't be much more to get a more recent car versus the rubbish, early V12 W220s. In the long run you'll save more too. If you can't afford a more recent W220 then don't buy one at all.

all the 2003 /04 s600 are going for 20k to 30k with 80k 90k miles on them that seems a bit steep for the mileage and the bi turbo worries me if they were not taken car of that is about the life expectancy of a turbo before they start having issues. These prices seem average above average ??

Mercedes
the nonturbo models had even more problems than the turbo ones. AVOID at all costs.

You will have multiple 4 figure repair bills for misfires, leaks, ABC issues etc.

DO NOT buy a 600 without a full warranty unless you can do your own repairs or dont care about repair bills. Period.

Its true very unreliable. My uncle had one, bought it brand new. We went to Virginia for a weekend and the cars power steering failed along with the crankposition sensor... but his E55 is still running strong
