OFFICIAL: w220 Wheel/Tire THREAD!

So I feel like we are in need of a thread that consist of w220's wheel/tire combos. Post up your make/model/size of your rims/tires. Also if you had to make any adjustments to make it fit(if it was lowered ect.)

I got stock wheels/tires so im not going to post

2001 Mercedes S500
2001 S500. Some other sort of OE Mercedes wheels. I think they may be from an SL? I bought the car from the original owners with those ugly 16's and found a set of these brand new for a good deal.

Tire size is 255/45/17. No rubbing or any issues whatsoever with fitment, other than I had to acquire shorter lug studs. The stock ones were much too long.

I really like the way these look. The rear stance is awesome.

Why are you not using 245/40/19 in the front?

Hi There,

Yes i am refering to guard rolling. It took alot of effort to do it stage by stage to ensure the paint did not crack around the guards etc. I also removed the rear inner plastic guards (I still have them so they could go back in but wanted no rubbing in there). The car has been for many wheel alignments to achive max camber. Running custom Air Matic suspension. Also with running such a streched tyre the load rating is not recommended for the weight of the car. In saying that i daily drive my car and had no issues regarding that. Currently not running spacers as the width is 10.5 Inches with a 27P offset so there is no need. I am currently looking to lathe a few mm of the rear wheels so i can go lower with no rubbing. I really wanted Vossen CV3 wheels but the market in New Zealand just is not here at the moment. Also Niche do really nice wheels and offsets. Hope this is of help, i continue to modify my W220 with learning new things everyday. Good luck with your wheel choice (There is lots) Thanks for the positive comments.

Joshua

Thanks alot for the help and good info !
I love concave on wide rims, like cv3!
What you say about New Zealand is very similar to Norway were i live, vossen are way to expencive.
I was also hoping i could get some nice looking rims witouth dealing with fender rolling etc, im also just using links, not custom air.
But i can deal with spacers and some "easyer" mods.

Its very hard to find wheels for my w220 in Norway for a decent price, because the wheel size is very uncommon and there is alot of taxes and stuff for ordering perfect fitted wheels/rims from another country.
I also want a 5 or 6 spoked concave rim like yours.
But i did find something that might fit, but it is a very "special" rim, and i dont know how it will look on my dark blue s320, but i added a link to them so you can see if u want http://www.finn.no/finn/torget/annon...nkode=54439162 iknow the site is in norwegian, but i guess you undersand the size and see the pictures, i could use those with 245 35 20 front and 275 30 20 rear?
Do you think that could work out ? I know I have to lower it alot to make it work, but i like it low :p
The price on them is also very good, its 1/3 of the normal price for those in norwegian krones.

Tore

No worries anytime. Yeah i was after the classic 5 spoke look. Another awesome manufacture of wheels are http://rohanawheels.com/ The RC22, but again the market here is pretty little and did not want to run the risk of them not fitting on my car if i had imported them.

I see no issue with the wheel set up you have in mind as they are not too wide and the offsets are resonable. It always pays to check with your local mag & tyre shop. The link is awesome if you like that style you should have a look at these Vossen limited edition wheels http://n4sm.com/blog/vossen-vle1-lim...been-unveiled/ very nice wheels. I know they are expensive but worth a look.

By custom suspension i was also meaning links and spacers up the front.

Cheers
Joshua

19" Tires Rubbing

I recently purchased a 2005 S600 with 19" rims. I believe they are off either a S65 or CLS...but not certain. Anyway, I need to replace the rear tires ASAP but am also trying to eliminate the rubbing when I hit a dip in the road. I like the wheels and would love to keep them. I included some pics of the current tire size. Any help is appreciated!

It took some time but i finaly managed to get some rims for my w220 in norway, ended up with used kleemann ts-7. 9x20 front, 10,5x20 rear, 245/35/r20 and 285/25/r20. Very happy with the result, now i just need to lower it about 2cm with links front and rear, and i need to fix some small gutter rash on 2 of the kleemann rims
