The New 2005 S-Class

Hi guys,

Here's an article I found on the supposed next generation S-Class. If this is real then I think the current body style is MUCH better. Check it out.

OK it seems like the above link is just a speculation as I've just found other "next generation" S-Class pictures. Hopefully, the final product willl look similar to the pictures shown on the following link:

PS. The oval lights really suck!

"To give maximum protection to occupants the next S-Class will get 16 airbags." -- holy !@$#, that's a lot of airbags.

"All S-Class models will come standard with pedestrian airbags, which sense in a split-second if the car is about to hit someone and shoot out of the grille to cushion the impact." -- that's gotta be pretty cool

I don't know about the design tho, but the innovations are awsome.

Again, the oval lights have got to go! It looks like Mercedes is taking a step backwards in design. They still have a couple of years so let's just hope they come out with something nice.

OK this is more like the REAL thing from Autospies and MBSPY. Basically the new S will look like a smaller Maybach...pretty exciting.

Keyless go standard on 2005's...not even a slot for the key anymore. All I can say is WOW, lots of new innovations going into this model. Lets hope it comes true!

They need to include the fingerprint ID thing. Audi will have it first. I can't seem to find the article that said that the new S-Class will have more power but will be more economical. Can you imagine about 650 HP averaging 27 MPG??

If it makes you feel any better, your new car will be outdated in a matter of 24 to 27 months, not 18.

I'm taking delivery next week of an S500, it's perfect timing. Let the new model come out for a few months before you buy it

shaggy982,

The new S-Class is actually the 2006 model so it should be at dealers anywhere between April to September of 2005 (that's what my dealer tells me). I don't know why websites keep stating that the new S-Class is the 2005 model because, logically, if it were the 2005 model then it would be available in 2004. I guess it depends on who one believes. If I go by what my dealer says then the new S-Class is the 2006 model available in 2005. If the sites are correct and it really is a 2005 model then it should be available in 2004. I think I'll go with what my dealer says right now so we have about two years before the new model comes out.

Taurian,

How long is your lease? I think I'll lease, too, since I do plan on getting a new S-Class when it comes out.

I don't lease. I bought it just a week ago. I guess i'll have to just sell it a couple months before the new ones come out.

OK here's the article I initially read. What caught my attention was the 27 MPG part. This time the CD/Minidisc/MP3/DVD player with seperate LCD's and headphones part is what really caught my attention. Now I'm no longer hyped about my S55. Oh well, check out the article:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/?<a hre...p?id=32524</a>

Oh yeah, since it's hitting the Geneva car show in the Fall of 2005 it'll probably be available to us in 2006. My thoughts exactly...this is the 2006 model.

Karma,

Leasing vs. Buying...an everlasting debate! I am leasing because I saw what happend to the resale value of the S class last year. Dealers where dumping the 2002 model, as the new facelift and modification of the 2003 were enough to entice new buyers.

Now, imagine what is going to happen when a new body style with major improvments hits the market. What would YOU pay for an "old and outdated" model??? Most people who can afford an S class will pony up for the new model. I would not want to sit with that car come 2006.

I am leasing for 39 months. I figure by September of 2006, I'll be in prime time for the new S class.

Oh, MB sent me a $1,000 coupon the other day for being an ML owner. How cool!

Taurian,

You're right about leasing. I didn't want to lease my S55 because the Passat I have is a lease and I found out that they screwed me with the mileage restrictions. I mean who ONLY drives 25 miles per day? That's why I wanted to buy but considering the fact that my I'll have two cars, the mileage should be OK.

PS. ajayz, the pictures with oval lights are wrong.

Shame on you!

Thats what you get for buying those damn VW's!
Any how if the new S class will be debuting at the winter geneva show 2005 then it won't be on the market until april/may 2006 for model year 2007. 7 years between models sounds right. The W220 came out in 3/99 debut in geneva 98 as well. See the pattern.

important question

i have an important question. i have 16" wheels now, 225/60/16. i want to buy these 20" rims. the tire size is 265/50/20. would this fit the car perfectly without causing any problems? i want to make sure before i spend over $2,000. would the ride still be fairly smoothe? thanks alot!!

Well here in Colorado they are like a bad dream that won't go away. VW owners out here Cut you off, speed in and out of traffic like they are in a race to die or something, and they all seem to be the most ****y sob's around and all this from a 25K car. I hate everything about them driver and car but that's just us non VW owners in Colorado.

Shaggy, I don't know about the tire sizes, but you will definitely lose the good ride with 20's. I went to 18's and the car handles better, but rides not as smooth.
