Argos is the most reasonable, reliable, an most compatible with every phone solution.

Upgraded startac to bluetooth in 2000 S430
Okay I followed instructions and upgraded startac to bluetooth in 2000 S430. the good first, the parts and installation were affordable and easy.the cradle eliminator works fine with v60 adapter, didn't try v60s phone yet, the universal PSE was an easy swap out and in. the phone reception and function are okay but some features don't display on dash without cradle like number dialed minutes etc, there is a slight feedback,(low hum on calls) because the bluetooth is not connected to exterior antenna of car may need cradle for adapter. the phonebook loads up but depending on phone only partial list with palm centro, only certain #s with palm treo. also command center in 2000 s430 doesn't have all the options as later 2003-up systems. overall it works its handfree and that is cool for now

1. check your car, does it already have the old startac phone under armrest console?
2. if so, then you will need Universal PSE part# Q6820971, if you have old startac PSE and it is not blue label.(blue label would be indicated by a blue marker line thru label on part or a blue sticky dot, if it is a blue label then the PSE has been modified to work with bluetooth, if not you must get new PSE stated above)
3. you will need universal cradle eliminator cable to avoid searching for v60s cradle. that part number is #Q682 0976.
4. finally you will need the v60 bluetooth adapter part#B67875856
a.universal PSE $142.56 total cost w/shipping
b. cradle eliminator cable $85.00 total cost w/shipping
c.v60 bluetooth adapter (puck) $400 b4 shipping, but check ebay for cheaper price I got one for $189.50 cost w/shipping Keenan Mercedes has it for $245.00
the installation instructions are found on Paul H. Dick’s site, Phone Bulletins) right here on "sticky:w220 owners start here by Skylaw" scroll down to "how to on bluetooth" pictures and parts are all there. if you have a problem just drop line. it's easier than it looks
(use genuine mercedesparts.com for cheaper prices not mercedebenz genuineparts website they charge much more for same parts about $68.00 more for PSE) Total cost= $427.06

or not to be a troll (we are a site supporter and sponsor), avoid all that, avoid all the different parts, and just plug in an Argos were the PSE goes. ALL factory functions and features preserved. No cradles, no pucks, no noise issues, no problems period. About 8000 units installed with ZERO returns.

The SmartKey Remote Start solution works by using your Mercedes Benz keyfob remote unlocking key. It includes full safety features and allows you to retain your panic system too. Simply use your existing key, press one of the buttons a couple of times and your car will start up! In addition, with the optional SmartStart module, you can even start and unlock your car with your phone from anywhere, distance is not a factor*. The unit simply plugs into the existing car harness. Installation is straight forward and simple. It does not require any cutting or modification of the car at all, therefore does not void any manufacturers warranty. The unit is also completely hidden after installation. No unsightly boxes or displays, just like a factory installed system.

everything stated was found on the skylaw post "how to upgrade startac" the pse is right on the cd changer in the trunk, the puck and cradle/or cable eliminator was easy install just unplugs and everything intergrates and functions on steering wheel all work and with reduced prices now its less than $350, so not to be a troll the thread and every part was furnished right in this forum. if you price is cheaper then go with it and by the way no feedback with v60 cradle

he wasnt being a troll, he was posting directly from the FAQ in this forum. Besides the Argos is $699+++ if you need extra parts, and the solution in the FAQ is $350-450

You are correct, now with used parts the factory system is cheaper, but harder to install, and simply does not work as good (you need to compare them side by side). The Argos sound quality is MUCH better and compatible with ALL phones (the V60 puck is DEFINITELY not, you don't know how many times we have changed out the puck system at our local dealerships because many phones simply do not work well with it)

Yes the Smartkey Remote Start does just plug in. We include quite a few extras in the box to make sure the job is even easier.

installation was very easy about 30 mins tops, v60 cradle with puck allowed for connection to outside antenna, and bluetooth reception is working great in my s430 no problems

That is very good for you... however, trust me, I have replaced no less than 300 units at Mercedes Benz of Buckhead (Atlanta) over the last couple of years due to compatiblity issues with the V60 system. The Argos works much better, install is 5 minutes, and is not the band aid style approach the V60 system is (it is a band aid system as it is trying to convert an older analog system for modern bluetooth use.).
I am happy that your system is working, I just want people to know that there is another foolproof way that will not have any phone compatibility issues, and is software upgradable for future protocol changes (and they do change all the time, hence several model blackberry and android that do not work with the V60 puck)

i agreed if you want to keepup with android etc but if you need your phone working for business this suffices ps all the phones i have tried sync with bluetooth puck with no issues of compatibility so far
