Previous W220 owner looking to Get a 08 CLS 550.
so i am looking at a 2008 Mercedes Benz CLS 550, 45,500 miles, black/black PI and PII price is 39,950, im a little worried about buying it cause price seems low??what do you guys think, its from a franchise new car dealer, carfax is clean, and the dealer said they are ok with me bringing it to Mercedes Benz to get car looked at before i buy.

bring it to mercedes to get it checked. Better safe than sorry. If all is good then you might as well get it if it's in your budget!

Ooh wow...big adjustment. Are you sure you'll be fine with a smaller car? It's awfully cramped in the back seat and the front is okay. I'm 5' 8", my knees hit the chair in front, and my head already hits the headliner in the back hahaha

If it's nice shape, it would go for about $38K plus fees at the dealer auction. So I'd be concerned as if a dealer bought it at auction, there's no way they would sell it that cheap unless they are really hungry to move it. After fees and prep, they'd own it at $39K. So making $1K in a retail sale is not what a new car franchise would ever do, they'd just take it to the auction.
But maybe they took it on trade and only gave someone $35K-$36K, in which case they could sell it at $39K+.
What you have to guard against is if they bought it at auction and it's a below-average condition car, where it might get $33K due to previous paint/body or otherwise lesser condition.
The fact that they are letting you take it to MB is a good sign. Get the PPI done, and also make sure someone looks it over for signs of previous paint/body repairs.
Good luck! If you need an extended warranty for it, let me know.
