Exclamation ShangoAshe needs your help... (2005 s55 AMG)

So recently I went on a Mustang Dyno and I had some issues with the shop.

The shop operator did not tie down my car correctly on the dyno, he ended up strapping my car by chains incorrectly. After tightening it and letting my car roll on the dyno it pulled out my links. After the links popped out, my car pretty much got slammed onto the dyno (while rolling). We were wondering why my car was so low on the dyno... But during all the confusion the operator continued to let my car roll on drive whle on the dyno...

In the end the exhaust was pushed on to the Axle and Driveshaft and pretty much bored out 3 holes in my custom exhaust.

The shop denies any resonsibility since they said it is not their responsibility to know where to strap the car.

Some of the parts can be fixed and maybe salvaged but in the meantime I need the following parts...

1.) New Drive Shaft
2.) Inner CV Joints Bearings (By the rear axle) x2
3.) Boot Kit (Comes With Retainer Kit, Axle Bolts, Nut, etc..) x2

If anybody here can help me out with the parts it would really help me out.

I just want my car to be fixed first then I'll deal with the legal issues after instead of having things stalled.

At the moment I priced everything out at the dealership...

1.) $1800
2.) $510 each (x2)
3.) $100 each (x2)

Everything has to be ordered from Germany...

Thanks everyone and I hope I can get this issue sorted out soon.

Cheers

S.A. - if you're in the U.S. the shop owner is an idiot to think he bears no responsibility for tying the car down improperly. I can't help you with parts, but I'd start talking to the shop owner about a small claims court case, together with a demand that he pay for the parts AND labor to repair.

most shops have insurance for goof ups like this , if the shop wont give you his insurance info, call your auto insurer and they will get it.

I agree w/ Skylaw.
Don't even threaten the shop owner with a lawsuit....
Just go to your local county court and file a civil court suit.
It may cost you $25 to $35 to file it.
Chances are you will both be brought before a mediator, not a judge (it's not like TV) and that moderator will either award you the money or settle somewhere in the middle.... at least you will retrieve some of that money, if not all of it....

P.S. Please name that scumbag shop so we all make certain to never go there.

If you've discussed it with them, and they don't want to play ball, try this.

Find a lawyer friend, and have him write a letter on his letterhead saying you want this stuff paid for, blah blah blah, consider legal action, blah blah blah. In most cases, this will get them to pay up, especially since the amounts are not huge.

Now, did you sign any "hold harmless" waivers or anything? While a good lawyer will typically tear these to shreds, it does make the situation a bit more sticky from a legal standpoint.

btw, parts.com has the parts for:

boots @ $42
Inner CV Joint @ $216
driveshaft @ $792

Stay away from students like that. And of course shop owner should be responsible.

Wow that's super helpful dude thank you so much!

I was only able to salvage the part# for the driveshaft.

Any idea what the part number is for the boot kit and Inner CV Joints?

I just want to make sure they'll work on my s55!

I think those "hold harmless" waivers clear the shop of most liabilities only if the shop takes full precaution and measures to avoid any problems related to the waiver. I don't think it covers an incident due to (gross) negligence on the shop's part. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, apparently they don't sell the boot kit, but they do have the boots and the hose clamps, so here goes:

Boot: 210 357 01 91 (could also be 220 357 01 91)
Lg clamp: 202 997 04 90
sm clamp: 006 997 58 90
CV: 220 350 03 13

Yes thats true, but they could argue that they typically strap the cars down on x location and that they weren't negligent, etc. Its all BS, but it can be a bit hard to prove, ya know.
