Rear Door Panel Removal & Replacement of DCM and Rear Door Handle LED Module

Gabby07621 has posted excellent video instructions for removal of various W220 body panels at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...-exterior.html

However, the videos do not address removal of rear door panels, and especially the fact that for some model years of W220, the entire interior door panel must be removed to replace the LED module for the interior door handle.

It is NOT necessary to remove the entire rear interior panel to replace a Door Control Module.

The pdf file attached discusses how to do all three.

NOTE: My car is a 2005 model. It uses the LED module with photos and part numbers provided in the pdf. Some earlier models use a different door handle lighting setup - as I understand it the LED module is in a different location, and the fiber optic lead is longer and is routed differently. I have never seen the earlier setup. If your car predates the '05 model year, before you order LED modules by the part numbers given in the pdf, check to see if they are for your car, by VIN - I do not know when the changeover occurred!!

The first time I changed an LED module, it took 90 minutes (but I was also taking pictures). I believe it could be done in 45 minutes to an hour, the second time through. Changing a DCM would take 20 to 30 minutes, tops; 10 minutes the second time through.

Are the plugs on the DCM requiring a special tool to remove? I can't seem to get them out..

Thanks Oliver, I got the two large plugs out easy enough, the small ones just scared me a bit as I thought I pulled pretty hard, this is my first broken part on this car in eight years. we don't drive it much as we only have 34k on it, we both have other benz's. mine is a 93 s-class with 97k I bought new as well.. thanks so much for the help!!

And thanks Skylaw
