2005 W221 S-Class

Over two years before its official presentation at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, a first prototype of the new Mercedes S-class, code-named W 221, has been spotted undergoing tests in northern Sweden.
According to a Mercedes spokesman, the new flagship won't grow overall in length or width but will feature a lengthened wheelbase with the front and rear wheels pushed further to the edges of the arches.
The new S-class will feature a design quite different from the current car. In fact, design elements of the up-coming GST, which itself will be based on the chassis of the new S-class, will be carried over to the new S-class, too. The car will be given a prominent waist line underneath the side windows, reaching from the bonnet straight through to the boot lid - a simple trick to disguise the true height of the boot without destroying the overall elegance. The front will be dominated by a very flat and wide grille.
It is too early still to give concrete information about chassis and electronic - however, air suspension and huge 19- or 20-inch wheels will be standard
This was an early spy picture, but it is not correct.
The two pictures in the first post are the latest spy pictures available and are touted as correct.

You are probably right on this one, but I need to ask you one question....
What makes you so sure that you are right?
It's all about recognizing Photoshop products. People who have used it know what its results look like. Personally, I don't believe pictures with flashy backgrounds like the one on your first picture. Also, if you look at the lights, they're clearer (more resolution) than the rest of the car. People who are good with Photoshop can pull it off but whoever did this was novice at best. There's one supposed picture of the W221 from Autospies which I believe and the only reason why I believe it is because it was shot in a plain garage and nothing was overly fancy. Then again, resolution was low so it might not have been the real thing either.
Anyway, hope this helps. We'll really never know until it comes out.

And for crying out loud I hope they stop with the "bubble" stying and give the interior a cleaner more classy layout, and I also hope they don't implement a cheap, confusing, hunk of plastic piece of crap shifter mounted on the steering column!!!!!!!!!!
Just my 2 cents............
