Well, based in this picture the car will be soooo beatiful, with a really sharp and sport aparance, wow!!
It looks too similar to what's already out. I really would like to see an S class from MB that stands out a little more from the competition. MB is making their cars so streamlined and aerodynamic that they lack any kind of shape.

that one looks sorta like the one in the one in autospies

The shape in the picture in this thread will not give u a definite idea because they have those black metal pieces they just stick on just for testing the vehicle itself. But the headlights and the grill look like the one in autospies pictures; theirs actually looks real this time.

MB won't want the S class to steal Maybach sales so may want it too be a little less large and have a bit less prestige.
Write to MB if you don't want them to do the round headlights, they may listen.
Not bad looking, but the back (trunk) looks a bit droopy like the E class

the back has a mix of different MB classes...bit of E,CLK,C...and isnt the front like the 2003 honda accords?

Actually it looks like it's slim only because it's at an angle. Look at the opposite headlight, its rounder.

it looks ok, i dont think its going to be as good as the current one.
internet mafia: i agree with you that most of the newer MBs looks smaller but in reality they are actually longer. i was surprised myself. i think it looks smaller do to the curves and areodynamics of the new cars
also, i dont know about you guys, but it seems like bmw is bulking up there cars, and MB is slimming theres down. what do you guys think. i like MBs approach more.

Alright I am new to this forum and not a owner of a Mercedes yet, but I do study cars a lot and have opinion on this new design. As with the introduction of every new S class, Mercedes will most likely showcase its new design theme for the rest of the line. You can see this is true by looking at this picture of the S class and also at the spy pics of the new SLK. the looks of the lights on the cars are very much the same and the overall looks seem to follow on direction: angled front with sloped maybach type rear. Also, Mercedes seems to have a pattern of producing the SL class as the last model of their current design theme, then moving onto their next design with the next S Class. This is all just inference of course...
Can you say a big ES300? That's kinda what the front looks like to me.
Noblert10, I agree that MB is slimming thier cars down while BMW is fattening thier cars up. Contrary to popular opinion, I love the look of the 745, its agressive, bulky, mean and is unlike anything else on the road. Kinda like what the W140 stood for for so many years. Unlike the current model, while beautiful, it gets lost in the parking lot.
Just my two cents!

I wonder if Chris Bangle is now working for Mercedes Benz design. The rear of the new S is ugly as the new 745i. However, when the time flies, one might get used to it.

Hmmmm
Mercedes has really put the hammer down on BMW in the last 2 years..
All of the cars w/forced induction and running 400plus horsepower on every E class or higher is goign to be HARD to top.
Has Chris Bangle checked himself into witness protection yet?
Anyhow...the Eclass is a BEAUTIFUL machine...absolutely beautiful..and I expect the new sclass to be the same.
