For everyone who lowered there w220
Hey guys I been thinking non stop about lowering my car. I want to go really low I think I looks awesome on my stock 18's. Just wanted to know how bad will I mess up my ride quality and am I risking that my airmatic will go out much sooner then normal? Also if some of you can post some pics of your lowered w220's I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

i've had my car lowered for 2 years now using links from adjustableairride.com. ride quality is relatively the same after lowering but suffered due to having 245/35/20 tires. the car has been my daily driver for almost the entire time i've had it lowered and i put a little less than 40 miles on it per day. the only issue i've had during that time is a faulty front, passenger side strut in which i had replaced. i think the failed strut was attributed to normal wear and tear than being lowered. the car is 11 years old now and had just over 100K at the time of replacement which had never been done previously. i've always driven lowered cars, so adjusting my driving style was a non-issue for me.
i'm contemplating on going a tad bit lower since my wife almost never drives my car anymore.

Thanks guys for the advice. I had lowered cars before when I was younger I had integra's dropped to the ground. I guess the big concern for me is airmatic failure because I have 129k on the car and the system has never been replaced.

Also my buddy that owns a performance shop says he can lower it without any links. He lowered his E55 without links he says its a better way to go. I am guessing its the star way?

1.5" front and 1" rear I think.
It feels the same to me. I'm on 19".

if you dont use links, either washers or star method will work. he is probably using the washer method

4 washers got me 2 finger gap, enough for wifey to not ***** up my front bumper.

lower ride height-hitting the bumpstops on the struts far more frequently, especially in the bad roads in the NYC area. That equals greater wear and a harsher ride.
Not to mention the ball joints, control arm bushings, etc etc.
Most likely the front airmatic struts will suffer a failure regardless of the lowering before the lowering would cause advanced wear, but they will receive more wear.
And reduced shock travel obviously results in a harsher ride. obviously on smooth pavement there will be no difference.

hey guys, im looking to lower my w220. I was wondering what the advantages of lowering with washers, links, or a lowering module? which set up will get me the lowest results? I was thinking of getting links from adjustableairride.com, and it said that i only need front links because the rears are already adjustable, is this true?

I would go with links. At first i used washers but they don't lower the car to much plus it's a really cheap way to do it. I bought links a few weeks after i put in the washers and they are awesome. Spend the $ it's not expensive
