If you were buying a 2004 S600?
Is there something wrong with the vehicle right now? In my opinion many people on here seem to report $1-$2k per year in repairs. Whether that be common issues or isolated ones. It also all depends if you do the work yourself, independent shop, or mercedes dealership. Expect most repairs to be about 1/5th as much if you do the work yourself.
Under the sticky "W220 OWNERS START HERE" in the transmission section.

The best investment you can make when buying an S600 is a good extended warranty. No way can you plan to replace all the things that might need replacing between 70K and 100K, it'll cost more than the car!
If youu'd like help finding a great, carefully inspected S600, and a warranty to go with it, send me an email to brucem105@comcast.net.

Either way, it was at the dealer for 3 weeks and warranty covered all the work, less $100 deductible. So in a way I am happy that everything has been replaced. Is there a chance of this happening again?
Crazy that this is a regular accurance on these cars...

All S-class owners should change this electrical plug, and MOST should also change the transmission mount too as it causes vibrations and is very easy to change.
It's the classic case of a $200 problem that, if let go, turns into a $2500 problem (harness, conductor plate, TCU) and then a $9500 problem (all that stuff plus trans rebuild).

They are not a Honda by any means but well worth the money they are selling for

Problem - there is NO protective cover on the Gwagen!
it is an off road truck and this part can get hit or compromised. My tech couldnt believe there was no shield since there is one on all the cars. I know this is a different car thread but it is the same 5 speed. does anyone know if there is a retrofit cover or will I nee to have a local shop fabricate one?Can anyone post a picture of the cover - the links on that site don't work with my ISP so I cannot see the cover. I know this is a bit rambling but thanks for your tolerance.
Thanks,
Grane
