hey apricot, how is the ride on 18's? is it a lot harsher than from stock 16 inch rims?

i've rode on 19"s AMGs and now i have the 18" AMG's
let me tell you, the 19's felt like rims, it was bad ride and bumpy.. it was def. bearable, but u could tell the ride sucked.
I then went back to my stocks for like 2 weeks b4 going to 18"s.
The 18"s feel 85% like my 16"s. I could not tell you the difference almost from going from 16-18, the ride is that good! I dont know how there was such a difference from 19-18, but maybe cuz i got brand new tires on the 18's and had bald tires on 19's..

How about the road noise? does it increase with the 18s?

I've never made that observation, but now that I think of it, the 19's made some noise just b/c it was a harsher ride, it was bumpier and harder, and it made bumpier and harder noises when it was on rough ground.. the 18's i have not noticed anything of that sort, frankly they have all the benefits of 16's plus better turning, there is almost no compromise with 18's as there is with 19's. I don't know why it's like that, but maybe cuz its AMG's

You have to store your pics on a server (hosted anywhere on the internet) and then link them with the IMG button.

White s500 with Chrome LM5s
Marklu98 -- I posted a reply to your wheel dilemma, however I accidently hit "New Thread" instead of "Post Reply" so just go to the first forum screen and you will see my post--I hope it helps.

dmile~thanks for the pict~is it your car? that car looks nice~~but i think the polished silver would give classier look~now i'm just curious how the ride is with those wheels? must be pretty harsh right? since my car is not for "show"~I do not wish to sacrifice comfort for the look~advice anyone?

Hi Marklu98, that is not my car. However my car is basically identical to that one, but is silver. The polished silver wheel will give it a more classy look. I still have a little ghetto-fab in my and thats why I opted for the Chrome LM5s-I will grow up one day--maybe. I bought my S500 with around 4K miles and it already had 20s on there so I have no point of comparison. I think my car rides pretty smooth now and so do other people who get in the car, but I guess it would be even smoother with the OEM wheels. 20s will definitely stiffen the ride a little, but it feels OK to me.
