This misconception has already been cleared up via numerous posts - please re-read them.
ANY software to ANY car adding increased stress to an existing system with miles on it WILL EXPOSE ANY / ALL WEAKNESSES
it's a pretty simple concept
BTDT in my urS6... chip them and poof go orig boost hoses / intercooler end-tanks / coils
please stop spewing this misinformation, yes?
TIA! 8-)

This is true. The tune has nothing to do with the Coil Packs going out on the car. The coil packs on the V12s are parts that will go bad after a certain amount of time. Almost inevitable.
Thanks!
Aleks
Tuners are aware of a known issue , and if they do not prominently inform you upfront that coil failure is a risk, its our job to inform the MB readers
it's not the tuner's obligation (nor forum members w/ no direct experience with said matter) to inform MB readers... IT IS SIMPLY COMMON SENSE
geesh...
You've got direct experience to share on the matter? Great! Love to hear it! Otherwise, keyboard jockeying is dangerous and inappropriate.
just sayin 8-)...

Am I reading this correctly? For the LOW, LOW, LOW price of just $1290 USD you get the ECU AND the TCU? Right? I see the ECU on your site for $1490 and the TCU for $695. That's $2185 worth of stuff for just $1290?

PM inbound.

All 600 owners know YOU are correct here.
Heck, I am coming up on my 3rd anniversary with the EC tune with ZERO issues, other than having to buy 2 sets of rear tires in 8000 miles

Since I will have everything torn down and will be forking over money hand over fist on parts (EXPENSIVE parts) I figure the better half will not notice a couple of bucks (read $1500
) extra on some much needed Orrrrr....maybe after 25 years of marriage (in 12 more days) I should be up front with her?

NAAAAHHHH!!

Keith
Fwiw I have not heard of a coil pack failure with speedriven ,brabus, or renntech or kleemann . Just eurocharged. So It would be helpful knowing if there's a difference among the tunes that is responsible for this
I don't get why everybody is hiding this dirty little secret ? That's like people coming here asking about abc and telling them "oh it's fine, any car with miles requires suspension maintenance " when we all know the abc system is prone to premature and costly failures
That's fine if you want to keep the possible side effects of tuning hidden , but I sure will make certain those interested are making a fully informed decision when going in. Perhaps that's just my nature as an attorney to advise people of the risks

yes, it's common sense
and again - either speak from experience or let others speak from theirs... conjecture and hearsay are just that... you, as an attorney, would know yes?
Having owned 2 600's in the past and likely to own another in the near future, I want to know all the risks and problems people have encountered after a tune , and I want to help other forum readers know the risks I saw buried in other threads , even if I didn't personally experience them

Nice thread-jack on Aleks' thread there, guys.
Wow, talk about crapping on someone's thread! How about debating the merits and pitfalls of performance tuning your car on your own thread? Aleks would PROBABLY like to spread some news about the SPEEDRIVEN tune here, huh? Sheesh!
