'03 S600 iPOD glovebox cable - part #? COMAND interace insight?
Seems there'd be a part # for it and that it should be readily available I'd think?
and
It'd also seem that the COMAND unit should have some interface for said cable ready and waiting for it - yes? Would only make sense, again, I'd think.
How does one pull COMAND?
Annnnny insight here would be *greatly* appreciated - running mine thru RF modulator is teh SUK!!!!

in C2 connector,
pin# 04, 05, 13
aux in right, aux in left, ground.
not sure about part # but user cmpcpro did the install on his 2003 comand 2.0 using a 3.5mm stereo from local store.
"If you decide to do it I recomend you get a 3.5mm patch cable from an electronics store. You will cut the male end off and splice the three wires into the C2 connector if you want AUX, which incidently sounds absolutely crystal clear. That is only three extra wires (ground, left, right) and quite worth it in my opinion."
i did something similar though it works - he said after installing to use the blank button on the comand to activate auxiliary input. hope this helps
ashtray out, youll see the 2 torx on the left and right..
once ashtray removed, youll see wiring harness connected to ashtray which simply disconnects and dont worry about the correct orientation, everything including all the c1/c2/gps antenna/canbus/d2b connectors are all proprietary to their inputs..
after ashtray out, the bottom HVAC and wood grain becomes loose and youll see the 6 torx screws holding the comand, once screws all out - just gently pull her out, the wires are somewhat long but like i said, its straight forward from there. i even think theres a youtube video and i didnt even have to type this? lol
I hugely appreciate this data!
Problem is, I have the fecal touch and I'm no electronics Mensa... I'll need to decode exactly what that data above 'means'. Like Mark suggesting we're FO... so the '03s... same car... are not? So, if not, then, this endeavor wouldn't work? I have no idea and am just fumbling thru this 8-/.
but alas - it's a great start!
also appreciate the hand holding on the removal, despite the Youboob vid... I've got that vid post saved and I'll surf to find the specific vid for this but it's also nice to have it written out as well
so its a nay using the schematic provided - however Cartronics or even the Dension with their gateway500 offer some nice bundle-of-joy packages.
our moderator Skylaw - has the Dension gateway500 and wrote a nice and thorough install filed somewhere in the archives lol im pretty sure others will chime in with their experiences -

I got myself the Dension Gateway 500 about 18 months ago and it's rather good, I got it installed and even then the guys had a bit of trouble. They didn't order enough cable to get from the back to the front of the car and the instructions that come with the unit for installation are woeful.
At about $1000 for the unit and installation it's not a cheap way to play MP3s but I'm of the "if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right" mentality.
