Radiator replacement on '05 S600?

So...How difficult a job is it to replace a radiator on the M275 S600?

Per Murphy's Law, it just so happens I'm out of town for a few days. I've just discovered a puddle of coolant under the car as I was heading out to dinner. Traced it to the plastic nozzle that the upper hose is attached to. There is a hairline crack running along the plastic" spout" that the hose attaches to leading into the radiator on the driver side.

I'm assuming this is means the radiator is shot to hell? Thinking I should order a radiator and have it delivered to my mechanic so he can get it done as soon as I get back into town.

Anyone have experience replacing it and what's entailed?

Thanks (again)!

Yes, I have replaced mine on the '04 S600. Not horribly bad to do. I had the exact same crack where the upper coolant hose goes in. The German engineering with the wierd o-ring and clips on the upper coolant hose don't help either.

Make sure you get the proper coolant (either MB or Zerex equivalent). The radiator comes up and out. Be sure to disconnect all coolant and transmission lines (on passenger side radiator). PM me if you have any other questions about it.

You and I are on the same wavelength Paul. I went to the local Autozone and grabbed some last night. Used some brake clener and an old tshirt to clean off the nozzle and smeared a glop of JB weld on for the time being.

The faces of people looking at me working on the car in the hotel parking lot were priceless.

There was only one "drop" of coolant under the car this AM when I looked (as compared to half the coolant resevoir). Hoping it will hold until I make it back home later this week when I can drop it off and have her fixed properly.

I know with mileage increasing, things break on vehicles, but it seems like mine has had EVERYTHING go wrong in the last couple months. Ugh!

Anyone know about the NISSENS brand radiator?

It's about $200 less than the HELLA one.

Amazon Amazon

Here are the two side by side, but I saw autopartsway.com had it for about $30 less than Amazon's site.

With almost 100k miles on the odometer, I want something that is good quality, but don't want to throw any more money away than necessary. I'm hoping to get another 50k out of her (or no more than 2 years) before replacing her.

I'm curious about this too. I don't know what's "normal", but usually been running just over 80c when I'm zipping down the highway and then around 100c around town. On particularly hot 90 degree days, I've seen around 115.
