2001 s320 or 2006 3 series

Hi guys,
I dont know if I'm in the right forum, but I'm stuck in a quandary trying to decide between a 100k miles s320 and a 86k mile bmw 3 series-costing approx 1000 $ more.
I've heard lots of good things and bad things about each car already and I cant decide which road to take.
I really dont need the immense luxury of the S class, but if the handling is almost as good as the hallowed 2006 3 series, buyin the s320 is a no brainer?
What do you guys thinks > unbiased of cousse
There are no error codes for the merc. Its been used well.So is the beemer.

Many many Thanks!

MB’s of all kinds.
It all depends what car you want. The 220 is a proper MB and is a real luxury car while a 3 series is not in anyway but a sports sedan. It's a totally different driving experience but small luxury cars do nothing for me anymore and I would take the 220 in a heart beat. The 220 may be older and may cost you but the BMW has miles so either way you may end up calling it a wash depending on annual upkeep. Here is a small comparison based my opionion of the two cars.

Looks- 3 series
Ride- s class
Feel- s class
Build quality- s class
Performance- about the same depending on what 3 series
MPG- somewhat the same depending what 3
Comfort- s class
Class and elegence- s class
Handling- 3 series

What would I rather take? The w220 s class all day and twice on Sunday... Today is sunday too

the s class is a big comfotable limo, cruising the highway at 80-100mph is comfortable and serene.

If you want to canyon carve , drive hard and test suspension limits, get the 3 series. If interior space and driving comfort is not as important, get the 3 series.

3 series looks like a pos.

How do you even compare an entry model car to an S.

It's C vs 3.

thanks for the replys guys! Finally gentlemen with opinions!
Funny reply C 280 ,
I'm considering the s320 up against bmw 320i.
I want to 'canyon carve' actually, but I'm hard pressed to understand why handling of bm's should be better, arent MB's equally lethal animal like when pushed hard enuf?

Moreover dont you think the rear of the bmw is [ insert word here ]!!.Its unappealing to say the least, hoods good though.
My only gripe is that the beemer is a gud 5 yrs newer to the S320 which makes it 13? yrs younger in human years

You must be a troll or a naive kid, if you are thinking of canyon carving in a s class. It is a large luxury car, not a sports sedan. How old are you>?

whtever it is tht you're smokin,I need some of it

Not canyon carving per se,S class cruising is a given, but why it shouldnt it also be able to hold the road down nearly if not as well as the 3 series?
All I'm tryin to do here is understand the diff. in handling dynamics b/w the 2 behemoths

Thanks!

3 series isnt a behemoth. its a tiny sports sedan. Its practically a compact car. Comparable to the C class benz.

An S class is more of a luxury limo experience, esp a s320 as mentioned in your profile. Its certainly no 3 series, 5 series or even 7 series driving experience. Drive them both yourself to make your own impressions.

what the hell? The 3 series is a good 27 inches shorter, has a 14" shorter wheelbase, and weighs 1000lbs less.

If you think a 3 series is a behemoth, it may be you who is smoking some good ****.
