lifetime fluid
Dang that's some good service life....
Speaking of tranny work, what does Merc recommend for change intervals? I was ASE certified (worked on mostly American makes so I'm a bit ignorant but learning) but I'm puzzled as what appears to be the tranny filler tube is 'locked' for service techs only? Since when did eyeballing the tranny fluid become complicated?
Where is a good place to find service manuals etc? I ordered one off of EBay a bit ago for a few bucks but I have my doubts as to how good it'll be.

2004 S500 4Matic 131800Mi
Bought it on 2011 with 118k mi. Tune up(spark plugs), CSP sensor, tranny flush, coolant flush, air filter(paper), cabin air filter. That's it and runs like new!

I got my high miles badge too! This km translates to 190,139 miles, purchased 3 yrs ago with 256,000 km
<snip>
In general, this car is my mistress, she always needs something. When she gets it she then demands something else.....but I do care for her...
<snip>
I lifted this from somewhere BUT
ain't it the truth?

Miles on mercedes
I Own 2 Mercedes both are 2007 one is a GL 320 with 165,000 miles on it and the other is a S550 with 197,000 miles on it. I just had my S550 at a dealer considering a trade and of course they wouldn't give me very much for it but when they took it for test drive they said they've never driven a 10-year-old car that drove so nice.
It's somewhat of a challenge to see how many miles I can get on the vehicle without getting sick of it. My previous vehicle was an Audi a eight 2001 when I saw that car I had 276,000 miles on it

I have a 2000 S430 with 407,822 miles and it runs great. Original engine and untouched except usual maintenance. Second set of plugs at 219k, third set at 384k. Both front air shocks, first at 334k, second at 380k. Rear units are original. Transmission original and all I've had to do is the normal periodic servicing. I've had to do a few other things such as a couple of alternators, a couple of water pumps, and at 401k, the radiator cracked and I had to replace that. Did it myself and I don't recommend that job! Mileage is consistently in the 25-26 MPG range on the hwy and as much as 28-29 on longer trips on mostly flat roads. I love this car and it still looks great though I know it's only a matter time before it suffers a fatal flaw.

This really is the difference between Mercedes and other German car makers... I believe.
