Highest miles?
Hi;
Who's gotten the most miles on their S class? I've got an S500 with only 85k and I'm curious about the longevity.
Thanks!
Dave

Rebuilt trans due to my incompetence while doing a drain/fill and conductor plate replacement.
Original engine, just maintenance. Plugs,coils,filters.
Still pulls like it did in '06, happy to hit the limiter when necessary.
Replaced all front suspension components, all mounts, ripped out/replaced Airmatic with Strutmasters on all corners and changed crank sensor.

Dang that's some good service life....
Speaking of tranny work, what does Merc recommend for change intervals? I was ASE certified (worked on mostly American makes so I'm a bit ignorant but learning) but I'm puzzled as what appears to be the tranny filler tube is 'locked' for service techs only? Since when did eyeballing the tranny fluid become complicated?
Where is a good place to find service manuals etc? I ordered one off of EBay a bit ago for a few bucks but I have my doubts as to how good it'll be.

I've had several W220's, several V12's and several big-miles cars, but not altogether before.
The engine, bodywork and interior have stood the test of time very well indeed, but the suspension and gearbox clonk and whine more than my other Mercs.

I believe a mercedes benz that is well maintained can handle many miles. i am originally from africa and my grand father drives a 1983 280e. its still in good condition and everything is still original except for the paint. not sure what the mileage is though. i am 3 years older than that car.

Black interior. Not too bad really. No rips from what I saw last and little bit of sag. I have not seen this car in a while(5 months). Who knows. Could have 400k on it by now

Miles and miles
I just traded off my 2000 Audi A8L with 188K for a 2006 S500. I done two timing belts and a tranny in the Audi. I hope to get by at least as good with the S500. I will know in two years.
