Transmission change

Hey guys i want to do transmission service on my s500. I got 156k on it. The previous owner did service on it at 100k miles. Looking at records it sez it took 4 qts of fluid. So it seems like he did not do total service cause i know the tranny holds at least 8 qts. What do think i should do? Do total service that takes out all the fluid or just do the non flush method. i heard the total service could mess up tranny on high mileage cars. If i just do the non flush way will it need to be changed sooner than 40-50k miles intervals? I will be doing it soon. Downshifting is more noticeable now since reaching 150k miles. I will be doing a coolant change also.
Thanks guys.

Wow!!! That sucks!! How long after the flush did it happen and how many miles on car? Did the stealer blame your car like normal tranny failure is cause?

Im leaning tward doing the drop pan and replace filter method. The prev owner did it at 100k miles and it took less than 4 qts i thought the flush would be better to get all the old fluid out but i dont want to take a chance of messing up tranny. I plan on keeping car for a while, atleast 350k miles. Thanks for input.

Thanks. Do you know anything about the coolant change? Is there an issue with flushing it on machine or just let it drain?

engine coolant is in constant circulation in the car so a flush should be OK

transmission is where the particles drop to the bottom of the pan and its better to drop the pan and clean it out rather than flush the particles through the tranny
