2007 MB S550 electrical problems...
I just bought this car a few days ago w 28k miles. At the time, no noticeable problems. But when I got home, I turned the engine off and turned the car back on the play around with the features (while engine was off). Two minutes later, the radio shut off, a weird clicking noise commenced, the command center went dark, I got all kinds of error messages on the dash, and the interior lights went off. I then turned on the ignition, and all was well again.
Ever since, the car goes to sleep after 4-5 minutes of idleness. The keyless entry does not work. When I manually unlock the door, none of the interior lights come on. Only when I start the engine does everything come back. But once the engine is turned back off, car falls asleep again within 5 minutes. I actually sat in the car during this process, and I could hear what sounded like a system shutdown after 4 mins, at which point, I'd open the door, and no lights would turn on.
I read a similar thread suggesting the main or auxiliary battery may be dead. Just wanted to get confirmation that this was the same issue. Very disappointing this was not discovered a few days ago at dealership, but I guess I couldn't expect them to tell me something I should've tested more thoroughly prior to purchasing.
Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Your car is the w221 body
But I can tell you what you are describing sounds completely normal as the older w220 does the same thing. After you turnoff the car , the electronics power down and you can hear all the computers shutting down
You need to restart the car to turn everything back on

I have a 550 and this does seem normal with the exception of error messages appearing. I believe you have a weak battery. As mention, move this to the W221 section to see if someone else has had this happen.

S550 command problems........
I have a 2007 S550 with roughly 85k miles. Recently the car's computer system has been resetting while I am driving on the highway. The entire command/nav system and even headlights turn off then turn back on as if I was just starting up the car. I also feel a stiffness in my steering wheel as the car is resetting itself. All the while my speedometer/tachometer light cluster and other gauges stay illuminated . On some occasions when the command shuts down my Esp/Abs lights will come on over the dash and then it will recycle itself off. No issues with the engine while driving but this is a very concerning issue. MB Dealership could not find anything.
This all happens at different times while driving. Sometimes it's about 10 or 15 minutes into driving. Mainly it doesn't appear to follow a constant pattern. Sometimes I can drive for an hour with no issues. I have seen a similar situation on YouTube with another owner of a S550. It's like my car has a ghost in it. Someone please HELP ME!
