S 600 2003
S600 trade or keep need advice

Hi all. I have an s600, 2003, 80,000 miles.

Car is super clean in every detail. I've done all the maintenance in my own shop regularly.

Recent repairs by dealer:
Both coil packs
Plugs
Trans mount
Water pump

Now, the ABC pump is gone. Shaft seal I'm guessing. Was not driven out of oil ( I caught it in time) so R&R the pump and flush and reset etc by the dealer should get the suspension back in good order. I'm guessing that will be 3,500.

So,my question here is: should I trade it off once the suspension is repaired or drive it another year?

Will I have fixed most of what goes wrong on these things or are there more fun surprises coming?

3500 sounds steep for an ABC pump, but if you have that does, surely that's the time to hold on rather than move on?

An S600 at 80k miles will be more prone to grief, and the dealer may not be the (cheapest) place to go. Your recent dealer expenses are getting close to the value of the car.

The pump for example can be had online for between $500 - 900 (depending if the throttling valve is included). Regular ABC flushes and filters will help.



There is plenty of advise here on how to keep the car going.

BTW - did the dual coil pack replacement fix your problems?

If the transmission mounts were done recently, the engine mounts probably aren't far behind. My experience was both were done about a year ago. Just recently had the "can't shift out of park" syndrome fixed.

HI All,
I was just guessing on the ABC pump R&R - would happily be wrong. The random misfire was cured by the coil packs being replaced.
