Are seat positions remembered on the key?

Hi,

I've been considering a 2004 W220. It doesn't have memory seat position buttons on the door. So it doesn't have the memory seats as such.

But, will it remember the settings for seat/wheel position on each of the two keys?

(I know the obvious answer would seem to be no, but I wonder if the memory seat pack just allows extra functionality, i.e. my wife can take over the driving easily even though we only have one key, or perhaps just to allow extra seat/wheel settings for one driver for urban/motorway/sporty driving)

Basically, has *every* 220 got at least two stored seat/wheel combinations automatically set by the key?

The only thing I can find here was a post in the middle of a thread about "memory seats", but I'm not sure if these details applied to non-memory seat W220's too: https://mbworld.org/forums/600086-post8.html

Thanks
Rob

Thanks. When I got in the car the seat moved of its own accord. I presume then this was back to where it was left before the "easy exit" feature moved the seat back?

Cheers

yup, the easy entry/exit will move the seat and steering wheel. you can adjust on the IC.

I have been amazed by the complexity of the computer programming on my S430. My guess is that it is very unlikely that the car will remember a different seat position for each of the keys - but it would be fun to find out for sure.
1) Use key A and set the seat position. Close and lock the car.
2) Open the car with key B. Set a very different seat position. Close and lock the car.
3) Open the car with key A, and see where the seat goes.

Let us know what happens...

Quite interesting. I thought the memory seat (buttons on door) were standard equipment on all S-Class cars. Learn something new every day.

The OP is from the UK, which gets vastly different options. they got some 220s without navigation.

If your car has memory seats, and if one activates the "key-dependent " settings via the multifunction display and then sets the keys, the seat (and exterior mirror) settings are remembered. The best guidance is likely in your owner's manual - if key-dependent settings are not discussed, it is likely you do not have the feature.

Hi I did buy the car. No memory buttons, but seat/mirror settings are remembered off the key. Perhaps a UK spec thing.

Thanks
Rob
