Nav CD's INOP
The problem is with a 2000 S500.
I recently purchased the 7/02 version of the Nav CD's and they are not recognized by the Nav System.
It does recognize the 7/99 and 7/00 Cd's. Any ideas? The car was originally put in service in Sept 1999.

2000 S-Class
I have a 2000 S430 with a production date of 11/99 and I just replaced my Comand Navigation System CD #1 with a Bosch release date of 7/00 to a 7/02 and it works perfectly. I removed the nav cd and popped in the new one. The system took about 30 seconds to load in the new nav cd and everything seems to be just fine.
I have heard that there is a certain production cutoff date that the nav cd will not work on. Can't remember when it was. I actually bought mine from a guy on Ebay and asked him before I purchased the new nav cd. Just do a search on Mercedes Navigation CD and you will find him selling different zones for around $59 each. Good luck!

This is not true. My 7/02 cds work and I have a production date of 12/99. Your S class is very early production and probably got one of the very first command systems, which will not work with the new CDs. See if the dealer can upgrade it or something. Maybe there's a way to update the firmware, worth a try.
